The water didn’t get me. It was in the food. The only safe thing in the country is San Miguel, filipino beer…and I’m not a beer guy but I took up the bottle in that country! 😛
Watch out, apparently, for the water.

I used to drink a fair amount of San Migu dark, bottled in the islands, when I was on the west coast.

Which is well worth chiding, IMHO. No offense taken, GH. BTW, my wife’s brother is a Catholic priest in the Philippines, and her second cousin is an IFI bishop in the same town.
Masuwerte…or lucky…what is IFI? Have not heard of this before. Is this a another cult there, ala Iglesia ni Kristo?

What part of the Philippines (I might have asked you before but am brain-dead right now :p)? My wife is from Baguio on the island of Luzon. I’ve been to the Phils four times, to Manila and Baguio mostly. I know the country well…I caught Typhoid Fever there last time so I’m not chomping at the bit to return!😛
Gurney…well, first I have to put on dark eyeglasses, my eyes still get blinded…😃 Did your wife go to school there in Baguio? Typhoid Fever…isn’t this usually caused by insect or mosquito bites?

Surigao del Norte. I’ve been there a few times, but never to Baguio. It’s a beautiful country with a lot of problems, but I hope we can go back for a vacation, maybe in a few years.
Surigao…in the beautiful island of Mindanao…that is a very picturesque place…you are right, I wish the Phil could solve its problems…

And, as I recall, he had been playing with a Ouija Board.
I forgot what caused the possession. If I recall, the boy was moved to a seminary where the final exorcism took place. And in the room, someone placed inside a statue of Michael the archangel…and the Michael’s voice could be heard through the boy’s…ordering the demon to depart. And there was a loud bang…but no explosion. And there was a sense of peace or calm after.

No way, no how! Despite being married to a full-on filipina, I am NOT a fan of the food. I think I got Typhoid from either the “calamaris” I ate or this big lunch we had at some relatives’ house. Could’ve gotten it at the hotel as well.

All in all it was the WORST trip of my life and things seemed to get worse each day. The typhoid was better than dealing with inlaws! 😛
 did you eat the balut too?

I like a balut, with salt and beer. I was reluctant to try it at first, but it kinda grows on you.

Iglesia Filipina Independiente. If I’m allowed to post a link, here it is: www.ifi.ph
Thanks…Masuwerte…i check the site, this is the Aglipaay church…same thing…their official name is as you stated above. I do not know if they are as big as the I.N.K. though.

Gurney said…No way, no how!..we should still invite him to have balut with us, when we get the chance…if he won’t take one, we could ask his wife to have him take one…😃

Sure, but we should have this meeting in Hawaii, where I can introduce you both to Loco Moco and Portuguese Steak as well. Mmmm, sarap! 🙂

My wife thinks balut is disgusting! She never ate it and she grew up in the Philippines! I just think it’s a tad barbaric the way they eat over there. I’m a vegetarian anyway so…LOL:p
