I am glad that you find it “disturbing”! It is good that you find it disturbing. I can only hope and pray that you find it even half as DISTURBING, SICK AND DISGUSTING as I find the utterly revoltingly pedantic and repetitively redundant reposting of slanderous and illegitimate accusations by antagonists of the Catholic Church.

Personally, I find it more than “distrubing” that menial and small minded YAHOO’s who think it necessary to throw rocks, nay, nay…BOULDERS, all the while they are residing in GLASS HOUSES and a greater number of their CLERGY are more guilty of the crimes they poster alleges against Catholic Clergy.

I am not now “politically correct”, nor will I ever be. I firmly believe that the best defense is a strong offense. I will not lay down and tolerate **** from disingenuous malcontents.

If you find my refutations of the antagonists “drivel” then I wholeheartedly urge you to petition the moderators to permanently “ban” me from the site.

I WILL DEFEND MY CHURCH AND MY FAITH WITHOUT HESITATION!!

As a man and knowing how man is by human nature those numbers sound very realistic anywhere in the world. And I think most men if they were really humble with themselves would agree.

I agree. But then I have no problem striking back against arrogance and disingenuous posters.
Can’t we all agree that such scandals only hurt the Church (Protestant and Catholic) and not have a sanctimonious attitude of “our clergy are better than yours?”

I think most of us, including myself readily agree that it is a pointless exercise, one only undertaken by those with little actual “class” and panache. But again… I have no problem returning a volley as hard as I can. And I will do so as often as I deem it proper.
Clergy, whether they’re Catholic or Protestant, are still human and need as much prayer as the laity. We need to keep them in our prayers because they are on the frontlines spiritually.

A study of Swiss priests published on May 12, 2003, revealed that 50% of that clergy had mistresses. Father Victor Kotze, a South African sociologist conducted a survey of the priests in his country (1991) and found that 45% had been sexually active during the previous two year period.

He concluded that among practicing priests 95% masturbate; 7% are sexually involved with minors and 26% have “attachments to minors;” 60% have sexual relations, 20% have homosexual relations.

My 25 year ethnographic study of celibacy published in 1990 had drawn comparable conclusions about the celibate/sexual activity of Catholic priests in America. I stand by my findings that at any one time 50% of American clergy are sexually active. When in 1994 a BBC television reporter faced Cardinal Jose Sanchez, Prefect of the Congregation of the Clergy at the Vatican with those and other figures from the study, the Cardinal’s response was, “I have no reason to doubt the accuracy of those figures.”

Those statistics are quite disturbing, I remember reading about a similar study in the United States, and it turned out that it wasn’t as bad as the statistics claimed that it was. Ill have to look that up again. Im just saying that these statistics might not be 100% accurate. And if they are, I just hope that their struggle with their sins doesn’t distract them from being able to competently serve their respective Catholic communities.

You could be right.

If you had told me 10 years ago that 4% of Catholic priests in the U.S. had abused minors, I would have said you must be reading from a Chick Tract. (Well, actually, 10 years ago I didn’t know what a Chick Tract was, but you know what I mean.)

At this point, I’m not prepared to draw any definite conclusions about the various statistics I’ve heard – even the 4% figure that came from the Bishops’ Commission could be an over-estimate.
 
Why not use some medications that kill the sexual desire or at least lower it.
