What would it take to unite us all?

Have you read much of John Calvin? He is known for his gifted mind, but his writings are very devotional… manifesting a great love for God. It’s the same with Jonathan Edwards in his obvious great love for God. Truth in doctrine when applied by the Holy Spirit to our minds will grow us in a greater love for our God. IMO… the more we understand the depths of the gospel, the more we will grow our personal love for God in what He has done for us in Christ.
Calvin did some very unChristlike things.

Is it possible that Calvin was motivated by pride?

…so you are non-denominational? I already guessed.
Not really. I live in an area where I could not find a good confessional church within driving distance. My middle son liked the youth group, and the teaching Pastor is a Calvinist. We became friends… so we settled there for awhile. Before I moved, I was a member of a PCA Church which better represents what I believe.

What do you mean by “it better presents what I believe”? What do you believe?

That link, that church… If they were “true to the scriptures” just as they claim, then they would be catholic.

Actually, I am like minded with the teaching pastor and not the other 4 elders.

Sure, that is the Christian struggle. We all sin as Christians, but are growing by the grace of God. Salvation is a process.
I agree that it is a process.

I don’t think we can assume to know the status of this process in any given individual.

I agree. Only God knows who are His.

2 Timothy 2:19

But God’s firm foundation stands, bearing this seal: “The Lord knows those who are his,” and, “Let everyone who names the name of the Lord depart from iniquity.”

You don’t even know!? No wonder you are so lost and confused! 😃 😉
Well, that is what I’ve been sharing… we all know in part. It is good to visit different christian communites on the Internet. There’s no perfect church on this side of glory. I actually might visit a Lutheran and a Catholic Church later on this year.

The best christian community is the RCC.

When you go to the catholic church, you will realise that there is a perfect church on earth. 😛

You have to admit, Catholic Parishes vary from each other. My old roomate when I was single 22 years ago is a Catholic Priest. Not all Catholic Pairshes are the same, right?

No, they are the same.

I’ve attended several catholic churches when I was a teen and young adult. I have had numerous close friends who are of the Catholic Faith, and been to many Catholic weddings. So, I know Catholic Christians struggle just like Protestant Christians.
