What would Jesus prefer??

I think it is more a prophecy of the Kingdom of the Antichrist, where all people who deny Jesus speak with one voice as Legion.

But for the topic question, I think these two address the problems in both denominations.

Matthew 6:1-6 Take heed that ye do not your alms before men, to be seen of them: otherwise ye have no reward of your Father which is in heaven. Therefore when thou doest thine alms, do not sound a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward. But when thou doest alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth: That thine alms may be in secret: and thy Father which seeth in secret himself shall reward thee openly. And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward. But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.

Matthew 23:5-9 But all their works they do for to be seen of men: they make broad their phylacteries, and enlarge the borders of their garments, And love the uppermost rooms at feasts, and the chief seats in the synagogues, And greetings in the markets, and to be called of men, Rabbi, Rabbi. But be not ye called Rabbi: for one is your Master, even Christ; and all ye are brethren. And call no man your father upon the earth: for one is your Father, which is in heaven.
And…Matthew 7:

The Wise and Foolish Builders
24"Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. 25The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock.

26But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. 27The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash."

28When Jesus had finished saying these things, the crowds were amazed at his teaching, 29because he taught as one who had authority, and not as their teachers of the law.

If that is the case, that they are seen as being agressive and not inviting, does this type of performance lend itself to spreading the Gospel?
Jesus himself went ballistic.

Anyway both catholics & protestants are doing things that dont “lend itself to spreading the Gospel”. Thats why christianity is dying in the west.

Allah akhbar! Our children’s children would likely be muslims. :o

He went ballistic because of a reason. Rightous indignation. It would be like if he read this forum and saw a angostic on here…wait…nevermind 😉

I disagree that that is why there is a decline in the West. Low birth rates, apathy, and an acceptance of a unique form of secular humanism are better reasons.

No, our grandchildren will not be muslims, as my goal is to teach all of them the wonderful gift of pork products.

i cant see whats so ‘righteous’ about the pointless destruction of poor folks’ livelihoods. pointless as its never gonna stop the impoverished peddlers from selling in front of temples. happens in front of catholic churches this very day.

For jesus, i’m sure that violent behavior turned off a lot of potential followers. I sure found it disturbing back when I was a catholic.

and why are people openly accepting secularism? because they had it with religious rule and manipulations. and sex scandals doesnt help too.

In other words, aborion, lack of faith and atheism taking over?
You have no idea. The Goddess of Reason had taken over your Cathedral long before abortion & atheism became popular. Catholics were fed up.
(No offense to my Muslim friends…asalam alakum is a jewish/arabic greeting, not only muslim)
Ahem, jewish greeting is “shalom”.

👍

Instead of asalam alakum, you’re going to teach them “Oscar Mayer Bacon”!

Honestly, abortion is a minor reason for the low birth rates. The shift in seeing children as a burdon not a blessing is the main cause. There is more to apathy than lack of faith. More like not caring about the faith at all. Most people are not bold enough to be atheists.

Oscar Myer is overated.

Agnos,
Jesus was upset at the money changers because they were corrupt. I would think that you would know all of the facts of the case.

I find it silly that so many people find faith and reason to be exclusive. You can have both. I do. 😃

Jesus said many will come in my name. I just know Christ would not like how they mock Him. King David is in no comparison to jibber jabber.
Now, I can see how you perceive those you have seen. What are you really thinking of those you have seen the way they worship the Lord?

funny, “children as a burden”. isnt that part of the rationale why catholic priests are prohibited from marriage?

he drove out everybody. and the gospels also mentioned the dove peddlers, not just the money changers. whats wrong with selling doves? catholic peddlers in my country are selling worst things in front of the temple! like pirated DVDs!

I do too.

Its religion that I criticize, not faith. Organized religion tries to control peoples’ lives, even though there is not a drop of evidence that it is from God. Allah Akhbar!

I think Jesus would prefer we not enter into the discussions because all they do is make the Protestants and the Catholics fight.

Why is someone always looking for a debate or a fight?

The forum is for debate. It is important to have a good debate, but it is hard for all of us sometimes to keep our debates go nice and smoothly.

We know little about the minister in question. If dignity is a measure of proper worship how are we to judge clown masses that take place in Catholic churches?

clown masses

Before I address this, could you explain to me as if I’m a 2nd Grader what you mean by this?

Did The Apostles “not” debate?

Did Jesus “not” question and answer those who opposed Him with passion and with strength, never bowing down to them just to appease them?

Jesus would be the first to encourage that the truth be discussed.
I believe.

👍

I strongly disagree with your assertion!

:banghead:

Oscar Mayer is “not” overrated!

I challenge you to a duel!

Oh my, I see the problem. You are from the north. Up there, you got little choice, and Oscar Mayer is the best of them. You have my prayers.🙂

😃

Actually, I’m partial to Boar’s Head brand, but Oscar Mayer Bacon rhymed with asalam alakum.

:rotfl:

(again, no disresptect to my Muslim friends as this is not a religious term, but a secular term used by religious persons, though not exclusively Muslim…Jews and Christians use the term as well).

I had not heard of them until I started visiting these boards. Apparently the participants in the Mass are dressed as clowns. I didn’t mean to be offensive but it is hardly right to criticize what goes on in one church when your own church is doing some strange things.

Here is a link to some pictures.

I don’t know if these still go on. I think it started with Anglicans and spread to some Catholic churches.

I remember channel surfing and saw a Protestant minister jumping all over chairs and screaming over and over the same lines. Then I switched to the Catholic channel and saw the Holiness of prayers followed by the Holy Mass and followed that with Father Corapi, a convert to the Catholic faith and I stopped and wondered…which would Jesus prefer? It was quite obvious to me, and I tried to look at this not from a Catholic standpoint, but from common sense.
Hi

I am an Ahmadi peaceful Muslim. I don’t believe that Jesus is a god or he sees and goes to every church to observe as to what the ministers are saying or practicing. But if we see it in supposition then I would say Jesus would like that the Protestants and the Catholics are united to form one United Christendom to resolve such differences.

Thanks
