Dear Charles,
I appreciate your writing to share your concerns. I realize that you taught there was no hell and therefore it must be a great shock to find yourself in the sixth circle. Apparently you missed my many mentions of hell in the New Testament.
I found this forum through Google. I am not with the JWs; I am associated with the Bible Students movement, the same movement that Charles Taze Russell was associated with.
I found Charles Taze Russell being so misrepresented here that I felt a need to respond to some of what is being posted. Almost every sentence of the humanly manufactured letter from Jesus misrepresents Russell, something I am sure the real Jesus would never do.
Russell did indeed believe in the Bible hell, and no, he did not neglect Jesus’ references to the Bible hell, and I am sure that the real Jesus knows that, and would never have claimed otherwise. Indeed, Russell, in his writings, examined every scripture in the Bible relative to hell, included sheol, hades, tartaroo, gehenna, lake of fire, etc.
By the way I did not appreciate how your Jehovah’s Witnesses changed my words in the New World Translation.
Russell had no “Jehovah’s Witnesses”. He never heard of a religious organization called “Jehovah’s Witnesses”, nor did he believe in the same things that the leaders of that group teach. He denounced the formation of such an organization until the day of his death. I am sure that if he were to return to earth today, he would denounce that organization, and much of what it teaches.
Also the Hebrew language does not contain the letters “j” or “v”, so the proper way to pronounce the divine name is Yahweh.
Neither does the Hebrew language have the letters “Y”, “A”, “H”, “E” of “W”. Yahweh and Jehovah are simply two different English variations of the same name as expressed in the Hebrew tetragrammaton. “Jehovah” is based on a latinized form, which, in turn, is based on the Masoretic Hebrew text, with the vowel points supplied. “Yahweh” is based on certain Greek rendentions which drop the middle vowel sound, probably because it had become indistinguishable in the Greek ponunication, some like a transliteration as IAOUE to IAUE.
Again, I am sure that Jesus was aware of these things, and certainly would not, like many humans, find fault over the linguistical differences in the pronunciation of the holy name of his God and Father, even as I am sure that he does not find fault with the linguistical pronunciations of “Jesus/Joshua/Jeshua” in English for his own name. The English form “Jesus” is based on the Latin form, the Latin form on the Greek form, and the Greek form on the Aramiac, and the Aramaic on the Hebrew. None of the various linguistical forms of the Son’s name are “incorrect” because they are not pronouced as his name was originally pronounced in Hebrew, they just simply “are”.
To keep this post from becoming too long, I will return again later, Yahweh willing, and post some more.
Christian love,
Ronald
