Sparrowhawk–Whenever an inner voice or your gut warns you of anything–listen! Above all else, listen! Back off. Extricate yourself as quickly and as unobtrusively as you can, but get out of the situation. Immediately! I don’t know whether it’s been God, my guardian angel, my conscience, a shred of common sense, or an amalgamation of them all, but EVERY time I’ve failed to heed them, I’ve had need for regrets. Whenever you find yourself in a situation “where there’s a strange electricity feeling” in the air–get out! Take heed that you’re being warned that you’re in danger and remove yourself, whether it’s a place, such as a building or street or at an event such as a gathering in the home of an acquaintance, or whether it’s the company you’re with, even if the person or people aren’t strangers. Somehow God has granted these early warnng sensations and we need to listen. (I think of it as God’s protective internal radar.) In every instance that I can recall when I didn’t listen to my inner warning system, it was because I was trying to be polite and didn’t want to hurt someone’s feelings. Please don’t make the same mistake.
This guy could be of any religion, or none. He could be from another country, or across the street. He might even be a jailbird who will get around to asking you for money. Investment “advisors” and bookkeepers who steal money, philandering spouses, child molestors, bigamists, and the Ted Bundy’s of the world are all successful because they’re con artists who’ve wormed their way into the trust of other people. This man needs no explanation! If you sever all contact and cut off his access to you, as others have explained, THAT will BE his explanation. Absolutely, do NOT, under any circumstance, “give him a chance to prove himself!” If he sends you any more e-mails, mark them as spam, unread, and get them out of your computer. Please! I shall pray for you, Little Bird!
