why are people so against putting dogs down? put the emotions aside and look at the facts. a dog that has not been socialized properly from birth will most likely be very uncontrollable and never really be a good pet. i know, lots of people here will come up with cutesy stories about how they or someone they knew took in a dog and it worked out great, but i have seen way too many people thinking their dog is great when everyone else around them thinks the dog is out of control. my sister even kept a dog after it snapped at several children because she was so emotionally attached. sometimes dogs MUST be put down. if nobody is willing to take it, bring it to a pound and have it put down. save people the trouble of having to do it in the future.

Even though th epuppy has found a home, the only other thing I would suggest for anyone else in this situation would be to take the dog to a vet and see if there is a microchip implanted under the skin (usually in the neck area) and if there is, there is an ID number that can be traced to its owner. I did similar when a cocker spaniel jumped on the train. No owner could be identified, and 9 1/2 years later I still have her.

I had no time to take her since I work and I had surgery yesterday, but the person who I gave her to was going to do that yesterday. I do wonder though… why would anyone leave a puppy out of sight and not look for it? I think she was left outside on purpose… either way, she’s got a home now!

Well, in the case of the dog that I found (or, more accurately, the dog that found me!), there are one of two possibilities:
  1. She was “in heat” (I could tell by the blood stains left on the floor) and may have escaped her yard.
  2. One of the respondents to my “dog found” posters in the neighborhood of the train station she hopped aboard at told me that the people whom she thought the dog belonged to “moved away in the middle of the night”.
Another thing to note is that one of the news items recently is the fact that due to the economy and people losing their homes, people are giving up their pets, especially if the place they move to does not accept pets. Unfortunately, sometimes they turn pets loose on the streets.

Yes that is terrible…

One lady here where I work was forced to move to an apt where pets aren’t allowed and she just got a puppy 6 months ago she’s trying so hard to find her puppy a home, and it breaks her heart… That’s just terrible! She doesn’t want to give her up to the pound or any other place since she loves that puppy!

One of my friend’s snuck her dog into the apt…Since her dog is a more mature dog she has trained it to be QUIET!! lol and no barking allowed… she’s been there for 4 years and still not caught!! Thank GOD though because that dog is her baby!!
