Perhaps more homilies on the controversial moral issues-abortion, euthanasia, gay rights/marriage. Talk about what the Church teaches on them, and why. Maybe not enough people know why these things are sins.

I personally think we should not reallty refer to roles carried out by lay-people as lay-ministries. I think it runs the danger of almost clericalising the laity and risks giving the laity the impression that it is they who are in charge of the parish.

I personally think that the various roles carried out by the laity which are often referred to as ministries should simply be thought of as temporary functions that assist the priest in carrying out his ministry.

Depending on how big your parish is, remember that it is to serve the parishioners, or to make it a place where people would know God and live according to God’s way.

So, where do you see your parish is lacking here? Does it facilitate parishioners that are already participating and those who have not yet?

Are the parishioners involved in the life of the parish? Do they send their children to any parish activities? What is the youth involvement? It is important that children and youth participate because it is a sure way for parents to come and besides, the young are the future of the Church, you have to catch them now.

We have program for youth, at different age levels, like camps.

Would your youth spend their time in the church with their friends or outside of it?

How about outreach to the non-church attending parishioners?

And the regulars. Are there any activities that they participate in instead of just the mass? Do they come for prayers together, Bible and life sharing, or meetings?

my church has recently started having people hand out hymn books and mass cards at the front of the Chapel.

However, a bit more of a welcome when you come in the door would be nice, not for me, but for tourists and others who aren’t from the area.
