Another question to ponder and share if you like?

:hmmm: If someone started a new entertainment channel for TV, what programming would you like to see on it? Why?

You can be as specific as you like, including laying out the basic plot of the proposed shows.

:hmmm:

Have fun with this one. And if you have the money to fund it and bring it in reality, it might be worth examining.

Sitcoms using a truly catholic family facing the issues of the day.

I want to see an religious family at home living their faith, praying at home, and coping with the assault of the culture. I believe that people need to be encouraged to lived holy lives and showing families doing so would be a good example and motivator.

A sitcom involving a catholic family leaving next to a protestant family who go into the myths of catholicism and address them one each episode.

This would be a good apologetic tool to help catholics understand their faith better and deal with the usual myths that pop up.

I would like to see more stories on the lines of *Joan of Arcadia *…things that are going on today with people in the Faith…both positive and negative, of course with a happy ending!🙂

Ditto! Perhaps that is why the Holy Father has promoted the ministry of film making! Do you think we will ever get the accurate and honest Catholic family?

I think mainstream media would shoot down most attempts to do so. I believe a new Christian entertainment channel would be useful and if I had a few hundred million, I would get it started.

A sitcom about two good priests and a parish staff serving a parish and all they do each week.

The family drama series I conceived a decade ago about a K-9 unit cop, injured in the line of duty, who retires to a farm to train police & service dogs. His wife teaches special ed. They’re Catholic, of course.

I think you may be right. Look at the success of some cable shows. I never watch violent things like the Italian mob one that people rave about. But look at the success of things that are not on the main channels now.

If someone like Mel Gibson could fund it, it could happen and it would take Hollywood by storm. I think now everyone knows there is a market.

I would like to see a new reality show called “Destroy Your TV.” Every week the show could profile one or two families whose lives have been dragged into the gutter by TV. In each episode the family members can relate some of the evil that came into their house because of the boob tube, how grades dropped, attention spans shortened, arguments developed, and slothfulness set in. They could then explain how they came to this realization, and how they got the courage to finally destroy the evil box.

Then they could blow it up. Real good!

I would just like to see a show with good values and real problems. Something that doesn’t try to change my mind about every little thing. Something that goes against the grain of our fallen world! And definitely incorporate a little Jesus in the mix. 😉

A sitcom based on wholesome catholic college life at Franciscan University in Steubenville. Students taking courses and dealing with real life situations in a catholic manner.

I’d like to see the “No Victoria Secret” commercials network.

Excellent point, commercials would be screened for morality. Many commercials on the major networks would not make it.

I hope someone from EWTN are readng these OR someone with $$$.

A reality show about 5 people going through RCIA, either from the same parsh or from 5 different parishes.

I will come up with some more ideas, later.

go with God!

I miss good, clean variety shows like Lawrence Welk, Red Skelton and Carol Burnett (although she could be a bit racy at times!).

I would love to see shows that brought the lives of the Saints to bear witness in our age that sanctity is still possible.

Leonardo di Fillipis of Therese of Lisieux movie fame (relative but good amongst Catholics) had several one-person shows touring and the one on St. Therese of Lisieux was excellent.

It was well staged and wouldn’t have been the most expensive show to produce.

I have a wish also to see more Saints cartoons. EWTN has showed a few and they really speak to my son – better than me by a long shot. (My Indian name is “She Who Talks to Walls”)

Some shows that are variety shows showcasing the talents that are out there right now being Troubadors for the Lord (and Holy Father).

Humor is always good for me, but a sitcom about our faith doesn’t sit well with me. I guess all the ridicule and such would seem to be coming home, so to speak.

I guess we could copy some of the reality television and show a group of novices or seminarians facing their struggles and challenges.

Studies on thewritings of Early Fathers or Doctors of the church and good scripture classes with Fr. Stephen Duffin or anyone from Ave Maria or Fransiscan of Stuebenville would be good, too.

Marian Devotion taught and encouraged in by guests with great insights would be wonderful.

Seeing Religious Orders at work and their mission would be nice. The CFR’s have so much going on and I know there are so many more that I don’t know about.

Well, I have to go make dinner.

Fictious dramas about some early disciples around 60-100 AD.

Saint Hunter - a drama about a postulator for sainthood for a couple of saints. Travels all around the world researching the people, miracles, etc.

And what? Every week they vote someone out of the class? No thanks… :rotfl:
