Reality TV - “Go with the Missionaries”

This program funds missionary trips with volunteers to help improve lives throughout the world. It would track a two week trip as the volunteers try to help total strangers improve their living conditions by get fresh water sources to the villages, building structures, improving living conditions, etc.
It would ask for contributions to fund further trips.
This one actually sounds like it would work. Send your idea to someone. People will surely tire of the ones they have on.

I think that’s the point, otm. Make television worthwhile again. There’s nothing inherently bad about the medium, same as with music, books, movies, plays, and musicals. If we made this channel, with shows based on the ideas here, would you watch?
Probably not. I find that trying to arrange my life around a TV schedule just isn’t going to happen; and the nuisance of trying to record it to watch at some other time isn’t worth the effort. I can rent a movie for about the cost of a good Starbucks drink, and I don’t even do that. I have just weaned myself from TV, and really couldn’t care less.

I am not on a crusade. When someone asks me about a show, I just tell them I don’t watch, and let it go, unless they query me. and if two or three people are standing, talking about a program at work or a party, I either change the topic at a lull, or move on to talk with someone else.

I turned my TV off 18 years ago, and I haven’t missed it since. I prefer music of a number of varieties, and reading; and my life has been none the worse for having turned it off.
You should have kept it on for a few more years. While T.V. was morally spiraling downward God was pulling the old switcharoo. Twin Peaks is a wonderland of everything we love about life, yet without the ‘corpse’ of explicit religious references (that had been murdered by the previous years of T.V.). So while it looked as if faith was dying and all was being lost, in reality it was at that time being just born (again!).

Yet even this was only one step in God’s plan to form the man who would help Him in creating His very own movie: Mulholland Drive

Why do we lament when we should be rejoicing?

A sitcom “Inside the Seminary” showing the daily life of 4 students in a seminary (loyal to the magisterium) training for the priesthood and dealing with issues that come up.

JUst a thought, but why couldnt EWTN start some of this type of programs. They are already established. They have the equipment and the worldwide network already established. I know they are nonprofit but just wondering if, or how it could be done in a nonprofit setting and all the advertising, ect. If possible at all, i can almost guarentee it would be orthodox and traditional which would be wonderful.

If they had someone (maybe more than one person) willing to step up and fund a second EWTN channel for light Christian entertainment, you might be able to talk them into it. There are lots of costs to be considered that will be incurred by this.

A drama series “Pro-life Law” focusing on a not-for-profit law center focusing on defending life in all stages.

Reality Show - “In the Life of a Bishop”

Follows the activities on one bishop for an extended period of times, giving highlight and varieties of duties on the weekly show.

Oh, boy! I like that one! Maybe we could do a show where the bishop paints his bedroom and we get to watch the paint dry, too.

Human interest news program possibly called “Revealing the Truth”.

It would have unbiased new reporting giving the various side of the issue including the underlying motivations.

I want a channel like ESPN used to be 10 years ago, before it went MTV on me and traded sports and sports highlights for making movies and manufacturing sports “news”. It’s almost like a bunch of ESPN execs got together and fought over whether they should stay a sports station, become a TNT clone, or become a CNN clone. Apparently they decided to try to become all three simultaneously.

Why Sportscenter suddenly needed to become a serious news program is beyond me.
