Fidelis:
Spoken like a true teacher!šŸ‘

After following Fidelis’ lead, I would use the Nicean or Apostles Creed to launch a discussion.

😃 As you might guess, I have little patience for unrealistic hypothetical questions or situations. In real life, there are almost always *some *variables, factors, or mitigating circumstances.

ā€œWhat is the most important truth I should know about christianity?ā€
ā€œThe Answer to The Ultimate Question Of Life, the Universe and Everythingā€ – is 42.

In case some of you are baffled by the above, it came from the Douglas Adams’ book series ā€œThe Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy.ā€

Yes. I am a geek. šŸ˜‰

Believe me, as I described it above, there are such situations and I have been in one of them. The only mitigating circumstance for the questioner was that she appeared to be a minor intellectually, and I was pretty darn tired to start explaining Christianity.
I don’t think anybody in their right mind would ask such a question and expect to get an answer that would summarize the whole issue, leaving nothing unclear, and this under 1,000 000 000 words.

And 2,000 years of a living Church may I add. To many the dismay.

We were created to give and receive love, depth, and beauty for ever and ever. And love means to know and to give, to know the hidden mysteries of love and its implications, and to give selflessly, totally, without reservation, and with total abandonment. To know the inner spiritual knowledge and gift and reception within the person we are loving, and to totally and openly receive the same from the other. And to possess all of this without end, that is why we were made.

Athanasian Creed.
I think starting from one of our Creeds - Apostle’s Creed and Nicene Creed - is a safe and logical start for those who want to express their faith. But the problem is how to not make it look dry and distant so to speak. We need to remember how we would feel if someone (non-Catholic) was telling us about their different beliefs. We would feel probably defensive or awkward etc.
