I’m hear the word “ministry” a lot now. Honestly it’s being used as an add on to everything we do it seems. Like ushers used to be who they where called now there a minister of hospitalilty, the schola cantorum/choir is now music ministry, lector is now a minister if THe Word, there’s a cleaning ministry, art and environment ministry… What’s the proper titles that should be used, if any? Cause it seems to, though unintentionally pushes the ministry of the Preisthood and religious life to the wayside or, on the same level as the laity. Oh yeah almost forgot the word Laity is less used it seems, now its: the people of God, but that referred to the old testament in it’s origins; those who weren’t baptized by water. I hear faith community, church is only referred to the building and Rome. Its not 100% all of the time but by and large it’s a trend that I don’t think is going away…so I thought it’d be good to look to the past. Like confraternities, Sodality, apostolates…?
