some voting suggestions from EWTN’s Judie Brown
one is directed to ILL voters

When both candidates are pro-choice why not send a message and write in Pro-life Rita.We always seem to reinvent the wheel during election time. www.prolifepac.com God Bless, Leo
Thanks Leo. I think a secular web site [not pro-life] that provides the voter with precisely what statements the cadidate has made is hte best place to check:
http://www.issues2000.org/
Exact voting record is provided along with personal statements from the candidate’s mouth.
Thanks for the correction.

As we find ourselves comming closer to upcomming elections, both in 2006 and 2008 one question has been bugging me… What are we to do if both candidates are pro-choice, and do not support the our stand on the issue? Should we not vote? Or do we ignore it and then vote for whomever we please because the issue of Abortion would no longer be an issue?
Thank you.
Peter Setnicker
Dear Peter
I suggest voting for pro-life RITA. For details, see prolifepac.com/html/proliferita.htm
Judie Brown
Judie,
Is there a website that endorses prolife candidates for the coming election?
Dear Sally
Please check issues2000.org/

In Illinois, if the write-in candidate is not on an official list of write-in candidates, a write in vote for them will NOT be counted!!!

YOU CAN ONLY WRITE IN THOSE CANDIDATES WHO ARE ON THE OFFICIAL WRITE-IN “LIST”!!!

Despite our rightful concern for pro-life concerns, really what is most at stake in the gubinitorial race is where the state budget is headed and what will come of services versus taxes over the next four years.

I don’t know, I’m going to pray really hard before I vote…

I am considering endorsing a write in canidate, but what stops me is the fact that I feel a vote for the write in is really a vote for Blagovich…And while he may do some things that are good for me that I want like (Universal health care) the man is really and totally corrupt…(With possible federal inditements coming.)

I just don’t want him in office again. And Judy Bar Topinka, I don’t like her, and I especially don’t like her running mate, but she’s not as corrupt, and at least she supports parental notification laws, which will save some babies…Plus, are state is in desperate need of a change in leadership…

Ying the reason we don’t vote seperately for Luitenant governor because a couple of elections back people voted for a Republican governor and a Democratic L.Governor! So they decided to change it so both are elected together…

The more I think about it, the more I like the idea of Pat Quinn being Governor. Free electricity for all!

Well, I voted this morning before going to work. They changed the way you vote again, this time to drawing a line between the 2 bars. Took me longer than usual, and made an error on two judges because the judicial retention was just one big blur. And although there was a space for write-ins under each office so that you don’t have to write in the office yourself, the space was small.

The interesting thing was listening to the guy who requested to use the touch-screen. At first he was mad that the touch-screens weren’t ready and booted already, then it wasn’t working, so he had to come back later. Finally I heard the election judge say “The IT guy is here!”. Unbelievable.

Happily, my voting went smoothly, so all I can do now is wait.

Unbelievable.
No. Perfectly typical.

I couldn’t view my sample ballot on the City’s Elections site. Should have bought the Sun-Times last Thursday. I did find a list of official write-in candidates at the site, though. I wonder who this Lowell M. Seida is who’s running for Circuit Court Clerk.

Well I voted for Topinka, my mom voted for Stufflebeam but she thinks she spelled his name wrong, so it won’t be counted…

I voted for Topinka because I truly feel that the choice is really between her and Blogo (with maybe Whitney having a chance). If a canidate cannot manage to get on the ballot, well than why should I throw away my vote…

I voted for Topinka because 1. She does support Parental notification, which will save some babies lifes hopefully…It’s an improvement from Blogo.
  1. Blogo is very corrupt. The state government is a mess right now, and federal inditements are truly pending… He was even raiding teaching pensions to support his programs. Also, they aren’t paying medical bills, which means doctors in Illinois are beginning to refuse medicaid. It’s a very bad situation here in Illinois, and I feel I have a responsible to try to see that this corrupt criminal does not become governor again. (I would say end up in the governor’s mansion, but well this guy isn’t living there, deciding to reside in Chicago rather than in the state capital… (Voters in S. Illinois are furious about this.)

Your post is fine, except I would change the ‘now’ to ‘still’…let’s not forget the IL government has a loooooooong history of corruption. The reason Blago was given a chance to clean house is because he campaigned to do so. Obviously that was a lie…so it’s not so much that Blago has ruined a good thing as much as it is he not only failed on his promise but ended up getting dirty himself. Boy, what is it with Chicago??? Somebody or some organization sure does have some pull around here…makes me wonder if the state could ever get cleaned up…that if we really got someone with integrity in office they’d end up dead or ousted on trumped up charges.

Couldn’t bring myself to vote for either Topinka or Blago.

If I had only been a media consultant in 2002…I would have advised Atty. Jim Ryan to get the kid from the Dell commercials and have him in front of a “Blago…Blago…Smith” picture and proclaim “Dude, you’re getting a Mell!”

Boy, what is it with Chicago???
Hey, George Ryan was from Kankakee.

Ah, Illinois. Ya gotta love it or hate it. There’s really no in between.

As a famous author once said about Chicago:

“There may be lovlier lovlies, but never a lovely so real.”

It’ll be interesting to see how many votes Stufflebeam gets.

I know that the state government has always been dirty, but its really depressing…

So, what happens if you mis-spell their name or leave out their middle initial? Also, where is the secret list of allowable write-ins kept?

😛 Yeah. I hear ya.

I’d be really surprised if we can find any Stufflebeam votes reported…if they really were tossed out then we shouldn’t see anything about him.

The election judge told me that if the write in candidate’s name is reasonnably similar to the one on the list (similar enough to be recognized) then the vote will count. I know this is a judgement call.

What’s more depressing is that it looks like Stroger is going to win Cook County Board President. I voted for Peroica, I felt the way Stroger got on the ballot was sickening.

A weird thing was that I voted with the touch screen votes, and the first time, I hit right on Judy, and it came up Blogo (and I had to change it) and the second time I hit right on Peroica and it came up Stroger, my mom had the same problem with the county board President vote, and I remember seeing on the news another person complaining about that.

It is not just Chicago, I promise. Our local library tortured us with a touch screen for a bit and threw out the nice card catalogues. One of the many issues was that where you touched it and what it selected were not aligned.

It’s apparently happening around the country.
