Okay. Good luck with that.

Honestly, just because I see someone who is extremely zealous it doesn’t make me want to listen. In fact, it’s the complete opposite. I feel that I cannot relate to that person at all, and I think they’re weird. I mean, by being good Catholics you’re not really going to affect non-Catholics much.
I disagree.

By being good, devout Catholics in every sense, it catches peoples’ attention. Then they become interested and want to know why you do the things you do. When that happens, people notice these things and they cant help not to. Im not saying people need to pretentious or overzealous, on the contrary, we should all be humble.

When people see Catholics preach one thing then find them doing the opposite, it doesnt make sense.

Im not saying there arent any devout Catholics, clearly that is not true. But there is no dohbt that there are a lot that confuse the message.

An example would be a showering people with compassion, forgiveness, good deeds, even if they dont “deserve” it…they will have no choice but to wonder why youve done such a thing, when mostly everyone else would not have.

I assure you, as a non-Catholic, that you are wrong. I find that when people follow their religion “in every sense” it reaches a point where I become alienated, and I can’t relate to them. I don’t believe I’ve ever once thought “Oh! That person has dedicated their life to teachings about reality that I believe are completely false! Maybe I should go ask them about their beliefs?” I’d only do that if I were looking for someone to debate. 😃

Then youve clearly misunderstood what Ive said about “in every sense.” Every sense also including acts, not just a profession of faith, but LIVING the faith.

Starting from Final Fantasy Tactics, to Rush On Seven Episodes online, to the RPGs of today. 😉

I’m thinking both old-fashioned Catholicism combined with the new media. 🙂
Sounds like a good combination. I actually had some ideas for a Catholic RPG (or an RPG as an apologetics exercise) but my artwork is still at the first-grade level. Ah, if wishes were horses… 😃

Yeah, I did notice that. How, in anyway, does this mean I’m more likely to listen to you? 🤷 The points in my previous post still stand.

I am honestly really not sure. I may very well be wrong here but I think the sexual revolution is going to be around for probably the rest of my life at the least.

Im pretty sure if you attacked me or got me fired from my job or something, that if insead of trying to attack you back and get even, I shower you with compassion as if you had just given me a million bucks youd probably be going “What the… Why did he do that?” Im very sure you would be forced to acknowledge the circumstance and think about it, if even for a split second. Thats a start.

But, an occasion like that would never arise. As a Catholic, you’d act like a decent person and then claim it was because of your Catholic faith. I wouldn’t think “Hey! If I became a Catholic I could be a nice guy, too!” I’d think you’re a great guy, sure, but that wouldn’t make me think Catholicism was anymore true.

I didnt say that it was a definitive moment that you turn into a Catholic pumpkin at midnight lol. However, it would get a persons’ attention more than preachy words given to someone who doesnt want to listen. Sometimes you have to SHOW people what it means to be Catholic. Other than that, the person still has a mind of their own and a choice as to whether or not they want to know more.

Anyway, agree to disagree.

I guess it depends on the individual. You could, possibly, argue that it would get people’s attention. But an atheist who is an atheist based on evidence, or because they care about what is true rather than emotional reasons probably wouldn’t be converted just because Catholicism sounds nice.
Anyway, agree to disagree.
Sure.

If it would be made more awesome, make it into a MMORPG. :3

what does that Mean?

Right. And who says orgasms are primitive and lowly. I think quite highly of them. God said “and this is good”… Good enough for me.

Anyway, getting back to it again what we all want is unconditional love but some of us (most of us) get confused on this at times due to “desire” and equate it to subserviance. It"s a two way street.

I hope he’s not describing spiritual gifts as a more evolved and higher orgasm. This is a little creepy.

A lot of people have an opposition to it. Thing is, opposition is an unpopular position to hold and therefore, those who oppose it won’t speak up and say “No. This is wrong!”

So by not saying anything, a tacit approval is implied because no one will speak up.
Thank you. That’s exactly right.

Peace,
Ed

Well, maybe that’s a job for the church? To try and get the message across? 🤷

Though, non-Catholics obviously aren’t going to listen. But that’s a job for you.
I’ve read a few relatively recent atheist to Catholic conversion stories, and at least one poster mentioned that he had been an atheist for a while before converting. By speaking up, charitably, we can be like the sower of the seed: in some places, nothing, in other places, the seed sprouts and grows.

Peace,
Ed

Every individual still has a choice, and if some of us at least plant a seed, there is hope. If we all do nothing then everything will stay right where it is, guaranteed.

Peace,
Ed

To Regular Atheist,

Honest, non-confrontational question here: What do you get out of these discussions? I mean if you’re dead set on your proof and evidence way of life, then why should Catholics - or any other religion - interest you in the least?

I mean, why waste time on something you believe is wrong/untrue?

Honest request,
Ed

Possibly. You’d have to go for atheists that don’t really care, though. It’s quite easy to defend your lack of faith as an atheist, and I’d find it hard to believe many of the arguments for gods I’ve heard thus far in my life would have any effect. However, many people are atheists but they don’t give it much though, so probably wouldn’t be able to defend their position.

Well, religion plays a big part in the society I live in. It’s found everywhere, though to more of an extent in the USA, it’s still good to learn about those other faiths. I’m quite interested in religion as a whole, and I enjoy discussing this stuff with religious folk. This isn’t the only place I come to talk about it. I’m on a number of other internet forums, and I sometimes chat to the occasional preacher on the street. I have Christian friends, but none that are too militant so they never discuss it. It’s good to hear why people believe, though, and sometimes I just read through the threads on here. I lurked for a while before signing up.
