How close is official Catholic doctrine is to semi-pelagism?
If you’re asking about the Pelagian Heresy (Pelagianism) - it was defeated by the Catholic Church at the Council of Carthage in 418 and was further condemned at the council of Ephesus in 431 - the very same council that declared Mary Theotokos (God-bearer).

It’s interesting to note that the Council of Ephesus was convened to put an end to yet another heresy - that of Nestorianism. It was the Catholic Bishop, St. Augustine who challenged Pelagius.

**If you’re implying that the very Church that squashed Pelagianism teaches that very heresy - you’re tragically mistaken. Pelagianism denies that Original sin stains the soul and that man can simpoly choose to do good without divine intervention. **While Christ’s Church understands that we have free will - we also acknowledge that it is a gift from God. We can do no good without him. **

On the other hand, God is not the author of evil and does not create people just to send them to Hell like some Calvinists would have you believe. That would make God a monster.

So, to answer your question - Catholicism and Pelagianism are polar opposites and are not even close in comparison.

I’m a Calvinist, so official Catholicism is closer to Protestant Arminianism and Semi-Pelagianism from where I am coming from. Please educate me on the Catholic Faith… and teach me the difference between the Catholic Faith and Semi-Pelagianism. Usually, Protestant theologians will describe the official Catholic Faith as being Semi-Pelagianism due to the synergistic nature of the Catholic view of the doctrine of justification. In the Catholic view, doesn’t each man determine his own fate for his or her eternal destiny?

**Understand that Protestant theologians have an agenda. If they embrace the Catholic view - they weaken their position. This nonsense of "semi-Pelagianism" was coined by Protestant theologians. **

I’ve argued with MANY Protestants about the Hypostatic Union of Jesus - who united to himself a human and divine nature. I illustrate that Mary gave birth to a divine person, making her the Mother of God - not just the mother of Jesus’ human nature, which cannot be seperated from his divine nature. They reject this.

Are they Semi-Nestorians?**
Where do you stand on this issue?

I embrace the doctrine of hypo-static union. You are avoiding my question about semi-pelagianism. So, what’s the difference between the Catholic Faith and Arminianism and semi-pelagianism? The Catholic Faith is synergistic just like Arminianism and semi-pelagianism, correct? Protestant theoligians don’t have an agenda because some Protestant theolgians are synergistic (Armininianism).

I’m not avoiding anything - except for baiting. you want to start a thread about that - then do it. I don’t fall for baiting tactics.

ALL Protestant thrologians have an agenda because their varying beliefs that differ from the Catholic truth are based on ecclesiastical divorce. To admit the Church is right about something is to lose ground.

You need to read up on the heresies you mention to see where they went wrong - not listing the truths of the Catholic Church in comparison to them.
Pelagianism, Arminianism, Arianism, Nestorianism, Protestantism in all it’s splintered factions - ALL of these errors (and more) were created by rebellious men.

I endure your postings simply because I want those who are truly in Christ Jesus to grow in their love for God on this site. The work of Christ is so much more powerful, effecutual and glorious than what you proclaim. Your view of the work of Christ makes God to be weak, anemic, and helpless to accomplish what He wills. We proclaim Christ and not a particular church. The Catholic Church is not the savior.

2 Timothy 2:10

Therefore I endure everything for the sake of the elect, that they also may obtain the salvation that is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory.

Colossians 1:28

Him we proclaim, warning everyone and teaching everyone with all wisdom, that we may present everyone mature in Christ.

The Catholic Church doesn’t claim that you are saved by the Church.
This is just another ignorant, uneducated remark from an anti-Catholic.

We are saved by the finished work of Jesus Christ on the cross. We are saved THROUGH his Church, which is the "pillar and foundation of Truth" (1 Tim. 3:15) - AND the Body of Christ (Acts 9:4-5, Rom. 12:4-5, 1 Cor. 12:12-28).

I would say that your postings lack charity and love… which makes your faith dead according to the Apostle James, Apostle John, and Pope Benedict. Here’s some biblical exhortation too.

And the Lord’s servant must not be quarrelsome but kind to everyone, able to teach, patiently enduring evil, correcting his opponents with gentleness. God may perhaps grant them repentance leading to a knowledge of the truth, and they may come to their senses and escape from the snare of the devil, after being captured by him to do his will. - Paul

And Exodus 20:16 say this about YOU:
"Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor."

Your posts are filled with the most acrimonious filth about the Church - which you know absolutely nothing about.

Matthew 7:4 has something further to say about the likes of you:
"How can you say to your brother, ‘Let me remove that splinter from your eye,’ while the wooden beam is in your eye?"

You wanna start throwing around false accusations about Christ’s Church? Be prepared to get an earful of the truth.
What I do to you is NOTHING compared to what God will do.
