I am a Protestant and I am happy to be written in the Book of Life and saved by the Blood of the Lamb. Alleluia and praise be to God!
I used to have that kind of arrogance. Now it frightens me to see such words written.
I suggest you look at the lives of the Saints. Thier spritual life began with humility.

Can you show me where we are supposed to be humble about being saved by the blood of the lamb? I think only the evil one would call that arrogance.

What’s so great about YOUR religion?
There are things that are good about my religion and things that are not so good about it. If we’re being honest, that could be said about all religions. I didn’t become Catholic because I thought it the ‘great,’ or because I thought it was ‘better’ than others. There are days I feel good about being Catholic and there’s days I don’t, and no one religion or denomination is made up better people than others. Religion gives us an identity, a communal set of values and principles, ways to live and worship, which creates cohesion and facilitates the search for the truth. What I like about Catholicism is as another poster said, it’s universality. To me, a considerable degree of diversity exists among Catholics, and the Catholic faith by it’s nature can accommodate that. What binds us together is we all profess the same Creed and celebrate the Sacraments, and can do so with loosing either our sense of community, or forsake our individuality.
My religion respects all the revealed religions and the truthfulness of the founders of all the revealed religions and this is a very peaceful approach for peace in the world.
I like to think I have a respect for all religions, and I like to think very spiritual people feel the same despite theological differences. I feel Catholicism is a faith that enables to find common ground with those who do not share our faith, and to work together for the common good of society in spite of our differences.

I would also like to add that Catholicism is a very visual, imaginative faith which appeal to me. It appeals to our senses, allowing to experience God in a holistic way and not just through our intellect. I’m not suggesting others religions don’t do this and only focus on our intellect. However, it’s a key focus and feature of Catholicism which appeals to me.

My spiritual life isn’t just beginning.
I am surprised to hear this, given the number of your posts that indicate otherwise. Usually, as a person matures in the faith, they become less hostile and bigoted. Perhaps you used to be worse?😃

I would agree that as a person matures in faith they become less hostile and bigoted, and don’t feel the hairs on the back of their neck standing on end to the same extent when their beliefs are challenged.

I see that it has become imparitive for you to stalk me where ever it is i post here. I’m glad that insulting me has become so important to you. That’s ok my friend, i will just turn the other cheek. God bless you:)

Certainly we are to celebrate our salvation by the blood of the Lamb. 👍

Celebrating HIs sacrifice for us on the cross is quite compatible with humility. The Apostles teach this humility about salvation.

Phil 3:12-16
2 Not that I have already obtained this or am already perfect; but I press on to make it my own, because Christ Jesus has made me his own. 13 Brethren, I do not consider that I have made it my own; but one thing I do, forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, 14 I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. 15 Let those of us who are mature be thus minded; and if in anything you are otherwise minded, God will reveal that also to you. 16 Only let us hold true to what we have attained.

To presume that we have already obtained, or are already perfect is also called the “sin of presumption”. While we are in this life, it is always possible that we may fall from faith, and be cut off from the Vine, without Whom, we can do nothing (including unite with our heavenly inheritance).

During this life, we work out our salvation with fear and trembling, pressing on to what lies ahead, and holding true to what we have attained thus far. This is a “mature” attitude of salvation. The notion of “once saved always saved” is not only immature, but represents a departure from the Apostolic faith.

It was a doctrine invented during the Reformation, 1500 years after the Apostles taught the One Faith.

You missed the point (and I kinda figured you would). I was responding to your “happy to be written in the Book of Life” statement. Catholics call that presumption. In truth, only God knows who and who is not written in the Book of Life. To assume our names are there is the height of presumption and arrogance. Putting yourself in a place only God belongs.
That is where humility comes in.

It also denies the possibility that one’s name, after having been entered in that book, can be blotted out!

I think Eric has given him more than enough rope.

I know that the truth is the same no matter where I go. I don’t have to know if I’m high,
middle, or low church. If I’m on vacation and go to church, again, I can go to any catholic
church and be at home. If I move to different state, it’s the same.

I also feel like I am in a church, God’s house, which exumes holiness. The holy windows,
pictures, crucifix, altar, robes, tabernacle. Just being there I feel in the presence of God. And realizing that st francis, st theresa, st thomas, and all the other greats, were exactly in the same kind of catholic church that I am in and they were doing the same things.
They received the Blessed Body and Blood and worshipped at the same Mass that I have the previlege to be invited to.

And I particularly appreciate being called together with all others in every part of the world, all kinds of people in every nation, of every description, to share a oneness with them because we are tied together in one holy body the church of Jesus. I know they are
praying for me as I pray for them, each sending help to one another, the handicaped, the poor, orphans, sick and dying. All caring and helping as Jesus was.

And I feel reasurred to listen and follow the church being the same teachings that the original apostles gave who were appointed and chosen by Jesus. Knowing that no man appoints himself as teacher, but that they were laid hands on by the successors of the
apostles, and received their appointments from the apostolic line.

And then knowing that I may talk to my Father, his Son Jesus, and the Holy Spirit, anytime I desire who live within our soul by their desire.

Do you claim to be innocent of insulting or being uncharitable to others? You might do well to dwell upon your own words and actions rather than merely pointing it out when others have wronged you.

I am dwelling upon my own right now.

Thank you for sharing your experience with us, fred! 🙂

Hmmm, what’s so great about my religion?

I like the intellectual stimulation, and the community and support it provides while I travel my path in search of truth and meaning.

I like our use of multiple forms of spirituality because it affords me the opportunity to broaden my spiritual horizons.

I like the way we are often out in the community, doing things to try to make our communities better and that doing those things is an integral part of our faith.

I like that we are a covenental rather than a creedal faith.

I like our symbol, the flaming chalice, because of what it meant historically, and because it is a hopeful symbol to me.

Those are some of the things I like.

Peace,

Seeker

I’d start with reading the NT.

Do you care to read all of the responses on all of the threads by this individual? If not, then I suggest you keep your suggestions to yourself.

Oh is that what this is?? Push a Protestant to a point where the moderators kick them out? I see it regularly here, non-Catholics ask questions that are met with arrogance and judgment and they end up being ganged up on. When they retaliate, they are painted as smug and uncharitable and end up being thrown out. Feel good about yourselves?? You must.
