Well you should lighten up since I didn’t post it to be rude.Sounds rude to me.
Well, to me the language you use to descibe the body does not portray love, but distain and disgust.I’ve already stated that our earthly, meatbot, bodies are beloved, and that they are being used to gain our salvation.
The language I use was merely meant to convey the vast difference between our earthly bodies and the glorified bodies that we will have in the Hereafter. There is love in that God is using these bodies to bring our souls to salvation.Well, to me the language you use to descibe the body does not portray love, but distain and disgust.
Also, I consider myself to be a meatbot and I feel tons of spiritual LOVE!Well, to me the language you use to descibe the body does not portray love, but distain and disgust.
Have you considered that your choice of terms might lead others astray? Also, I consider myself to be a meatbot and I feel tons of spiritual LOVE!
How so? It seems to me that anything that places peoples intellect on a lower level of the totem pole is a great burden to them, but I believe it’s true. Compared to what’s out there somewhere, whether it be Heaven or in some upper world of existence, we are surely similar to meatbots. I really mean this with deep respect. I believe in free will, inner spirituality and the salvation of souls. What I say does not change anything about our nature, but is intended to humble people in considering what must be.Have you considered that your choice of terms might lead others astray?
People will not be humbled by falsehoods and half truth. A sample of these are in post #3 (only the soul is in God’s image); #7 (robots); #15 (bodies) which contain information directly contradictory to Church teaching or implies thinking that is contradictory. How so? Are you saying that our bodies were made in the image of God? Are you saying that there is no similarity between “beloved meatbots” and our plight in this miserable and corrupt world? Are you saying that these bodies do not lend themselves to sin? If so, I disagree.People will not be humbled by falsehoods and half truth. OK, I stand to be corrected in the body being made in the image of God. I’m also aware that the body should be held in a place of honor, which I do in stating that we are “beloved meatbots.”CCC
**II. “BODY AND SOUL BUT TRULY ONE” **
[362](javascriptpenWindow(‘cr/362.htm’)
The human person, created in the image of God, is a being at once corporeal and spiritual. The biblical account expresses this reality in symbolic language when it affirms that "then the LORD God formed man of dust from the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being."229 Man, whole and entire, is therefore *willed *by God.
[363](javascriptpenWindow(‘cr/363.htm’)
In Sacred Scripture the term “soul” often refers to human *life *or the entire human person.230 But “soul” also refers to the innermost aspect of man, that which is of greatest value in him,231 that by which he is most especially in God’s image: “soul” signifies the spiritual principle in man.
[364](javascriptpenWindow(‘cr/364.htm’)
The human body shares in the dignity of “the image of God”: it is a human body precisely because it is animated by a spiritual soul, and it is the whole human person that is intended to become, in the body of Christ, a temple of the Spirit:232
Man, though made of body and soul, is a unity. Through his very bodily condition he sums up in himself the elements of the material world. Through him they are thus brought to their highest perfection and can raise their voice in praise freely given to the Creator. For this reason man may not despise his bodily life. Rather he is obliged to regard his body as good and to hold it in honor since God has created it and will raise it up on the last day. 233
365 The unity of soul and body is so profound that one has to consider the soul to be the “form” of the body:234 i.e., it is because of its spiritual soul that the body made of matter becomes a living, human body; spirit and matter, in man, are not two natures united, but rather their union forms a single nature.
[366](javascriptpenWindow(‘cr/366.htm’)
The Church teaches that every spiritual soul is created immediately by God - it is not “produced” by the parents - and also that it is immortal: it does not perish when it separates from the body at death, and it will be reunited with the body at the final Resurrection.235
[367](javascriptpenWindow(‘cr/367.htm’)
Sometimes the soul is distinguished from the spirit: St. Paul for instance prays that God may sanctify his people “wholly”, with “spirit and soul and body” kept sound and blameless at the Lord’s coming.236 The Church teaches that this distinction does not introduce a duality into the soul.237 “Spirit” signifies that from creation man is ordered to a supernatural end and that his soul can gratuitously be raised beyond all it deserves to communion with God.238 [368](javascript

The spiritual tradition of the Church also emphasizes the heart, in the biblical sense of the depths of one’s being, where the person decides for or against God.239
It seems to me that this thread demonstrates that humility cannot be generated externally. It must be sought after internally.OK, I stand to be corrected in the body being made in the image of God. I’m also aware that the body should be held in a place of honor, which I do in stating that we are “beloved meatbots.”
Again, the purpose of this thread was to create humility in knowing that there exist much more intelligent and freer beings than us earthly humans.
With all due respect, Robert, methinks it is not our duty as Christians to “humble” anybody. How so? I respect your thought but I think it’s important to stay humble and to try to keep other Catholics humble. Related to my thought, I have to wonder what it is about the term “beloved meatbots” that upsets people. Is it that it promotes a sense of humility in knowing that more intelligent and freer beings already exist? With all due respect, Robert, methinks it is not our duty as Christians to “humble” anybody.
Time and death will do that to all of us soon enough, without any human assistance.
God Bless and ICXC NIKA.
What are these freer beings? What could be more freer than a being with free will?I respect your thought but I think it’s important to stay humble and to try to keep other Catholics humble. The world we live in is really a cesspool. It’s a land of exile and slavery.
The souls in Heaven for one. What are these freer beings? What could be more freer than a being with free will?![]()
How does being dead make you “freer”???The souls in Heaven for one.
Just because we have a free will does not mean that we are not slaves living in a miserable and corrupt world.
I’m not sure if I’m hearing you right, but the souls in Heaven are not dead. How does being dead make you “freer”???
What’s so special?? humans get to go to heaven. We are so lowly that I often think of ourselves as “meatbots.” And, what’s so great about the world we live in? Sure, it has an element of “good,” but basically it’s miserable and corrupt from “evil.” Looking at technology could make a person proud, but look more closely and you will see that it all comes from on High. (As great as I believe technology to be, why is it that nothing seems to work? With all the wit necessary to create these things, one would think that with just a little more effort they would work flawlessly!)
