What's the difference between Mormons and Jehovah's witnesses?

And after you explain that, please explain what you make of the WBTS’s false prophecy that the generation who saw the events take place in 1914 would not pass away? How does an organization that claims to be Jehovah’s mouthpiece get that wrong for the majority of it’s history?

The Bible warns us:

"Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves. Mat 7:15
Who said that Jesus wasn’t a King at birth look at the gifts he received a child… gold frankincense and myrrh, the same gifts King Soloman received…where did I say Jesus was not a King?

ChristianAD…do you know in Matthew 27:52-53 when Christ died on the Cross, the people of the just came out of their graves and appeared to various people throughout the land of Israel???

Jesus broke the power of death. This in no way can be used to invalidate someone’s denomination, or perception we do not know Scripture or have any devotion to the Word of God.
? Please elaborate I don’t understand why u have quoted this…?

Stephen do you realize you just ignored the most important information in the paragraph to defend why you believe in Catholicism. What is God’s name?

To answer your question I have no authority except the word of GOD. I am not trying to start a church. I just want people to read their bibles and develop a relationship with GOD, and not a priest, pastor, bishop…etc. Were you born a Catholic?
People here do read their bibles and have a relationship with God and also with priests, bishops, friends, family, co-workers.

You seem very very confused as to what the Church teaches, what JW teach, and what the Bible says. Why would I think that anything in the Bible is false and proclaim to be Christian? You never claimed to believe differently than the JW about their afterlife interpretations, so I figured you follow their beleifs.

No as far as your quotes about Abraham and Issac, you said I’m calling the bible a liar somewhere?? You don’t even say what I lied about.

You should be the one careful of your speech, claiming that Catholics don’t follow Christ or the Bible. That they are not on the narrow road. You should read Matt 5:22, about the danger of calling brothers in Christ fools.

Also, you stated that you would answer my 3 questions and even called them “important topics.” You asked me what was the significance of the Levites and I answered. You have now changed your mind on the “importance” of the topics.

One more thing, it seems that you are interested in knowing the Bible, which is a good thing. But you have to believe that you are not the first to feel that way, it is not humble to think your fellow man does not have the same feelings. Have you ever thought of the times and places where people can not read, do not have access to personal copies of any Bible, and do not possess commentary on scripture? People had to rely on the loving words of their priests to pass on the key points of the Gospel, mainly the Beatitudes. You have to have the faith that Yahweh and his Son preserved the Church, which he said would last to the end of times, through members of the Catholic Church. It is only logical.
It was more of a question. I was asking if u thought the scriptures were not true, and stating that you would be calling God a liar because these are his words I am quoting…a man that doesn’t believe in scripture doesn’t believe the bible is God’s word.

He doesn’t believe Jesus is Divine and goes on and on about God’s name, combine this with those after life beliefs and the fact that he jumped into a thread about Mormons and JW (and shows no LDS beliefs) strikes me as JW. But for some reason it appears he/she is ashamed to admit it.

Exodus 3:15 This is what you are to say to the sons of Israel, ‘YHWH the God of YOUR forefathers, the God of Abraham,+ the God of Isaac+ and the God of Jacob,+ has sent me to YOU.’ This is my name to time indefinite,+ and this is the memorial of me to generation after generation.

People don’t even know they are commanded to use Gods name…why would the church say to go against the scripture/words of God. Do u call your friends by a title like friend or do u call them by their names? Why would God even speak his name if we were not supposed to use it…

Apparently, the option is to believe The Bible and Tradition as the Bible instructs…

or believe you

What have I stated that is mine. I have only quoted scriptures.

Matt 4:4
Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’”

Catholics are Christians, and in fact are the first Christians to exist, and were the only ones to exist for many years.

You are neither Catholic or Christian, and we can look historically to see right where a mortal man made up your religion based on his own desires.

What does that make you?

Disciples were the first Christians, why do you think this religion is called Catholic. If that were the case they would have been Catholics instead of Christians… I am just a student of the scriptures, just a plain Christian… I have not claimed to be anything more only present you with scripture.

The name, Jehovah, first appeared in the ( protestant ) Darby translation of the Bible, in 1881.

The bottom line is this: THERE IS NO J SOUND, OR V SOUND IN THE HEBREW LANGUAGE. So, what appears on the surface to be JHVH, is properly pronounced as if it was YHWH. When you pronounce this word correctly, it sounds like Yahweh, or Yahwih, or Yahowah.

The true God has many names. YHWH is only one of them. He is called Elohim, which relates to the plural nature of God, and also frequently refers to the God of the Northern Kingdom of Israel. He is called Adonai, meaning Lord or Ruler. He is called El-Shaddai, the God who is more than enough. He also has many names which are combinations of YHWH and various attributes of God such as YHWH Jireh ( our Provider ) YHWH Shalom, ( our Peace ) YHWH Rapha ( our Healer ) and many others.

Catholics only began to refer to themselves as such to differentiate themselves from those who identified as Christian, but chose not to follow some of the tenets of the Catholic Church.

That doesn’t make Catholics non-Christian; that means that some people chose, of their own free will, to ignore the Church that Jesus established himself. Catholic means “universal.”

This is all basic history, and something you should be familiar with if you’re going to engage apologists and other Catholic Christians on this forum.

Adonai means Lord, Elohim refers to his title…Adonai is a translation it is not Hebrew, that is the beginning of the substitution in the bible of Gods name.

So if you are not Mormon or Jehovah Witness, and you are not discussing their beliefs, why are you on this thread? 🤷

If you would like to discuss your personal beliefs, not those of Mormons or Jehovah Witnesses, it would be better to start your own thread. 👍

The Tetragrammaton is YHWH, which I continue to quote…

Show me the scripture that Jesus did this? Please not Peter… There are many holes in this. He stated his kingdom is in the heavens, and he is the mediator for that, not Peter not the pope, not you, or me, but who ever receives Jesus receives the Father.

…It’s history. Catholics were the only Church that believed in Jesus at all for hundreds of years. Jesus also stated that his Kingdom was at hand on earth, and told his Apostles to go out and spread that Kingdom in his name.

Please show me historically where Jesus started more than one Church.
