MATT 7:13 Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it.
New Living Translation
MATT 7:13 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:
Is the Word of God limited to the written word in the Bible?
And what do you understand by Sola Scriptura?
YES, I UNDERSTAND. JESUS STATED: MAN DOESN’T NOT SURVIVE ON BREAD ALONE BUT EVERY UTTERANCE FROM YHWH…/
QUOTE]
But nothing was written when Jesus said those words…so what could Jesus have been referring to then?
Or He could have been referring to the Word of God…the Logos…Jesus himself…which we Catholics received body, soul, blood and divinity in the Mass.
ARE YOU SAYING THIS SCRIPTURE IS NOT TRUTH?
Where did I say that?
No…I have not seen where God specifically said when the Sabbath would be celebrated.
But Christiand do not celebrate the Sabbath of the OT. Did Jesus not say there is a new covenant at the Last Supper?
So Christianity now celebrates a new Sabbath…on the day of Resurrection, or the Lord’s Day…as part of the new covenant.
THEIR IS TRUTH TO THIS STATEMENT, THAT WE ARE UNDER A NEW COVENANT, BUT EVEN THE SCRIPTURES REVEAL JESUS RESPECTED AND EVEN WENT TO THE FESTIVALS OF THAT TIME. DEFINITION OF CHRISTIAN IS “CHRIST LIKE”. ALSO JESUS DIED ON NISAN 14, SO YOU ARE NOT HONORING THE DAY HE ACTUALLY DIED. THAT WAS CHANGED AS WELL
.
Did you read in the Bible that He gave the Apostles the authority to bind and loose? So we follow the Apostles, who started celebrating the breaking of bread on the day of Resurrection.
But Scriptures say to abide by also the oral traditions, not just the written traditions in the Bible.
But the Bible is a produce of Tradition…Sacred Tradition, that is, of the Catholic Church…to reflect its teachings…that is how the books were selected by Catholic bishops from among around 200 plus writings in circulation the first 400 yrs of Christianity.
MY POINT EXACTLY…AND NOW SOLA SCRITURA
Sola Scriptura is a product of protestantism…which you inherited from your protestant forbears…sometime around the 1500s…it was not practiced in the beginning.
Let me ask you…how can an ordinary early Christian rely on the bible alone…there were no printing presses, few knew how to read and write…and were on the run from roman persecution…did you forget this?
How does the Bible keep us in line with God? If we sin, does the Bible cause that or our free will is what caused that?
2 TIM 3:16 ALL SCRIPTURE IS INSPIRED OF GOD, AND BENEFICIAL FOR TEACHING, REPROVING, AND SETTING MATTERS STRAIGHT
.
How does this passage answer my question?
Besides…you missed out on the first part of the passage…v14…14 But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have become convinced of, because you know those from whom you learned it,
Meaning…know who you learned from…someone with Apostolic authority…not someone who claims to have had a vision sometime in the 1800s.
