On a different note, I recently had an experience with the door knocking witnesses.
Now I wasn’t trying to be rude, nor offensive, nor disrespectful, and I’m not one of those who would slam the door on them, but I was getting ready to go to work and didn have time to get into a debate, nor to be saved.
I’d seen these two ladies walking up my driveway, while another pair of young men walked up my next-door neighbours drive, so I rightly guessed that it was either LDS or JW people coming.
As I opened the front door to these 2 ladies just as they were about to knock, I noticed that one of the two was holding a magazine that said Watchtower.
Before they started to speak, I asked if they had come to meet me because they wanted someone to go to mass with, and to introduce them to a priest so they could join Christ’s only true church, and hear the true word of god, as taught by the only church which Christ had founded. I went on to mention that I was in a rush to go to work but would be going to mass that evening, if they wanted to call back about 6pm.
Both of them looked shocked and one didn’t speak, while the other lady politely said “I don’t really think that’s for us thanks” and before I could say anything else, they were halfway up my drive. Seriously I’ve never seen two elderly ladies move so quick!
Which leads me onto the question:
Why did they look shocked, and why did they scarper so quickly? Is this because they have some negative image of Catholics?
I suppose it could have been worse,

I could have got my housemate to answer the door, as he was wearing a t-shirt that day, which shows off his eye-of-horus-wrapped-in-compass-&-square tattoo. I can picture it now, “hi ladies, I’m a humble representative of lucifer, come -in, would you care for a cup of tea?” (off topic but he denies that the Masonic deity is really lucifer, but having seen that tattoo, I just don’t believe him. If that’s not the eye of horus, then I’m a monkey’s uncle.)
