MANY people on this thread have missed the point of the story!

The point is not to promote violance or ill feelings against other religions…
like i pointed out in another post…All religions that worship God in some manner have a part of the TRUTH BUT…the Lord has revealed the Truth in his Jesus Christ

The reason the knight stuck the Jew was not simply because he was Jewish…but because the he(they) came simply to talk without the tought of converting and believing in Christ

Even worse they came into a monastary dedicated to Our Blessed Lady…that is why the knight hit the Rabbi

THE POINT IS THAT INTER-RELIGIOUS DIALOUGE DOES NOT WORK UNLESS THE ULTIME END (GOAL) IS TO PROCLAIM THE GOSPEL AND CONVERT THEM

Well…i guess it is partly my fault because there was a bit more to the beginning of the story where a monk explained it more…

But the point stands…And i think people underestimated the minds of the people in the middle ages…

I would agree that the story does use un-needed violance to proove a point but that is only to proove the importance of that point (topic)…

Where are the Jews who have been converted because the person proclaiming the Gospel to them lost his temper and beat up their rabbi? There is more than a little bit of truth lost in that translation, don’t you think?

Treating someone with respect even though he wants to talk about God without any current thought of conversion is not wrong. It does change hearts, sometimes. Violence converts no one to the Gospel, but rather hardens hearts against it. That story needs to be relegated to the dustbin. Period.

I see what people are saying that the knight should have not have hit the Rabbi

NOW I SEE HOW PEOPLE ARE EXTREMELY MISGUIDED BY THAT ACT…

FIRST OF ALL…it was a STORY(made-up) by that King saint
(i can’t think of the name right now)

It was suppose to be a dramatic way of expressing what true religious dialouge should be!

Some of you under-estimate the inteligence of people(the church)
back in the day…
infact…
I’m sure the apostles were pretty smart…and even further back the egyptians…and chinese…and indians…and well all the ancient people
