Has anyone mentioned “Jump Start”? Robb Armstrong has created a black family that any Catholic would love. When the wife was pregnant with twins it was hilarious. The “fetuses” were real humans who were actually carrying on conversations in the womb. If you can read any of them from a few months ago on the web I guarantee you will love them. Pro-life should give them some recognition.
My other favorites include:
1 For Better or for Worse. Debbie mentioned crying when the dog died. The reason she and the rest of us fans cried was because the family dog saved one of the children from drowning and by so doing gave his life!..very sad and touching at the same time!
2 Mallard Fillmore. When I travel I can never find it in the local papers so I have to get it off the web. It is wonderful!
3 Baby Blues. I wrote to the creator once and he wrote me back. They appreciate feedback when they are hitting the nail on the head!
4 Luann
5 The DuPlex
6Family Circus, Rhymes with Orange, Non Sequitur

I have loved Peanuts as long as I can remember, over 30 years, but B.C. soon came to be almost tied. Does anyone remember the B.C. Christmas show (it seems to me it was on one of the movie channels-Showtime, etc.) from about 20 years ago? I only saw it the one time, but have always looked for it since, with no success. Don’t remember much, except that it’s focus was the Real meaning of Christmas, and that it was quite moving. I have clipped many B.C. strips over the years.

For the moment, I have to support myself outside the Church, largely as a substitute teacher (which I am certain is melting away my time in pergatory faster than a receding glacier :banghead: ). I give my classes one of two choices: I can be like Mr. Ratburn of “Arther,” or Miss Finster of “Recess.” Parents will probably understand the choice. By the way, have you noticed that “Recess” is closely patterened on the old “Hogan’s Heroes” series? Even the theme eccoes the original. My all time favorite however, is “Redwall”, which my local PBS chanels neglected to carry this summer past. Pity. 😦

Probably aren’t any 75 year old posters out there but I have been reading in the comics section that “Blondie” will be having a special 75th Anniversary special tomorrow…September 4. Some of the other comic strip creators have been promoting the anniversary in their strips. Even the Family Circus family and Dennis the Menace are “going to the anniversary party” It’s cute when the comics creators support each other… 😃

My favorite comic strip? DILBERT. It may not always be the best for a young mind, but it does seem the funniest. Until it was discontinued I thought CALVIN AND HOBBES the very best. And while we are on the subject, if I had to choose what I think the ten best strips of all time were, I would say with my limited experience that they were: LITTLE ORPHAN ANNIE, DICK TRACY, CALVIN AND HOBBES, KRAZY KAT, THE GUMPS, LITTLE NEMO IN SLUMBERLAND, BRINGING UP FATHER, DREAM OF THE RAREBIT FIEND, and BARNABY. If I only could choose just one on a desert island, it would be LITTLE NEMO.

I really enjoyed Calvin and Hobbes as well as Farside, sadly both are discontinued. 😦 Other Faves in no particular order include Dilbert, Foxtrot and Mother Goose and Grimm. My most favored strip (being a parent of two teens) is Zits.

Current favorite comic: “Mutts”
All-time favorite: “Peanuts”

I also love Dr. Seuss animated cartoons, Bugs Bunny cartoons and Disney cartoons !!!

Im still a kid at heart. 🙂
