Iā€™m Australian. I found CAF googling particular faith related issues. For a few years I just read the threads to understand an issue from the mouth of faithful Catholics. I think that these web forums are wonderful ministries of the the 21st century.

I will agree with that! With the advent of the internet, things like this are great ways to minister to each other and learn about how Christians out side of oneā€™s own parish seek God.šŸ‘

American, born in New York and have lived in Florida, Oklahoma, California and now, Washington. I am of half Norwegian and half Italian heritage, which is kind of a crazy mix. I love the Northwest, in spite of the rain, we have gorgeous, colorful, long Springs.

I have heard that there is a lot of depression there because of so much cloudiness and rain. Any truth to that? Just curious.šŸ¤·
 
If before I was born, God gave me the option of where (and said Australia is not an option), I would have said make me a New Yorker. I have always had a sort of strange homesick yearning for New York and I donā€™t really know where that came from. It seems to have some mystical sacredness eminating from the soil me thinks?

I once had a mystical homesickness for a certain city, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, until I went there. Strange, but the homesickness left !

Iā€™ve only been to New York once, but ā€œsacredā€ would not be among the top 50 words that came to mind to describe it. Iā€™m not even sure ā€œsoilā€ would have crossed my mind, for that matter. For a country girl, there is nothing that seems farther from the soil than Manhattan, short of actually leaving the planet!!

Maybe it was an Indian sacred site that held some familiarity with the organic spirit of European Catholics in the way that Lough Derg in Ireland became an important Catholic site?

One day Iā€™ll come check it out and see if it is just a fantasy. šŸ˜›
