Do you thing Telegram or anyother messanger app will be able to compete with Whatsapp?
I use telegram. It has great support across different platforms unless you want to use the end-to-end encryption feature. It isn’t supported on all platforms that support telegram.

This comes along with being a popular client, but Telegram has also become a popular messaging client among groups like ISIS and some white supremicist groups. The USA government usually puts pressure on owners of large messaging applications to respond to the presence of such groups on their network. I don’t think they have the same ability to do this with Telegram.

“Although Pavel Durov, the founder of Telegram, has been under considerable pressure to allow governments’ access to the platform, he has defiantly refused, even after a Russian court banned Telegram in April 2018. Durov’s only explanation for his refusal to comply with government requests was posted to his personal Telegram account: “The power that local governments have over IT is based on money. At any given moment, a government can crash their stocks by threatening to block revenue streams from its markets and force these companies to do strange things. At Telegram we have the luxury of not caring about revenue streams or sales. Privacy is not for sale and human rights should not be compromised out of fear or greed.” Thus, Telegram remains ISIS’s preferred platform for disseminating propaganda and recruiting new members precisely because Durov sees any government involvement as impinging on individual privacy.”

So you prefer signal over telegram and Whatsapp? Why is that?

“…we’re concerned about WhatsApp’s August 2016 announcement of a new privacy policy that allows sharing with parent company Facebook. This allows Facebook access to several pieces of WhatsApp users’ information, including WhatsApp phone numbers and usage data.”
" In fact, we hope that the encryption WhatsApp uses, the Signal Protocol, becomes more widespread in the future. Instead, we are concerned about WhatsApp’s security despite the best efforts of the Signal Protocol.’
Whatsapp built on Signal.
