Funny I found this thread, as my non-denominational roommate was just telling me that she thought I was ridiculous for going to Mass on Saturday night since they don’t give me dinner. 👍

Tell her a Lutheran said, if you went to Mass, you got fed. 😉

Ha! I invited my co worker to Mass Aug 15th Holy Day. She is Southern Baptist. She asked me if lunch would be served after the Mass and when I said no, she declined.

I am being totally dense here?

Do people know what others are saying when they speak about going to service to “get fed”? Because I feel like this is the same as Catholics eye rolling when a non Catholic suggests idol worship…I’m sitting here thinking…are Catholics acting stupid about what “get fed” means, or is it willful ignorance and misrepresentation.

The idea that it’s all about being selfish, blah blah…or that it’s a demand for a hot meal at service…I mean, are you joking and I’m not recognizing it, or are you seriously saying that is what those folks are all about.

Get fed means feasting on the word of God, getting renewed in spirit so one can go out and live a Godly life, share the gospel, and address sin in their lives.

They come to hear the word and a message that helps them live the word of God.

I’m not a member of those faiths, but I know many who are, and I know what they mean when they say it.

They don’t show up with a fork and an attitude, and expect someone to do it all for them.

Well, here is one Catholic that agrees with you wholeheartedly. Of course Protestants are fed in their services. As Catholics, we believe that we are fed both with Scripture and the body and blood of Christ in the Eucharist. So while we believe you are missing a very important part of the food that Christ intended for his Church, there is no doubt that you are fed by his word and take it into the world.

God bless.
