What boxsets do you have?
I think you’re in the wrong forum somehow, Sonny. Second star to the left and straight on until morning. Now off wit ya!🙂

The Vigil mass is considered as Sunday, but I just recounted and came up with 40 days from Ash Wed to Easter Sunday

A little snippy, aren;t we?:o It sounds like a glass of wine and a little chocolate’ll do you some good.😉
Until you have been privy to being told if you wear a medal you are giving offense, and that it is idolatrous, I would withhold judgement

I just counted again:confused::confused::confused: Holy Saturday is still day 40 for me.:confused::confused:!!!

Anyone else want to join the confusion? I can’t be so stressed out this week that I’m constantly miscounting?!?!?!?!😊

I think you did…lent lasts 40 days from Ash Wed to Easter Sunday…but the last 3 days are considered the Easter Tridium, I think
Yes. The Triduum is it’s own liturgical season (the shortest of the year), ergo it is not part of Lent. But I think it is traditional to continue whatever your giving-up or fast was until Easter Sunday, to celebrate the Resurrection.

Not really, star’s recently bragged about being outside the of the “evil” Catholic Church.
“Bragged”???

I’d sure like to know when and where. This thread is about fasting and Lent, not about casting aspersions on Starfish.

Again, my deepest apologies to those who misread my posts.

Circular Letter Concerning the Preparation and Celebration of the Easter Feasts
Congregation for Divine Worship

The following circular letter (Prot. N. 120/88) was published by the Congregation for Divine Worship on Saturday, 20 February 1988.

Full text of the Circular Letter is posted on EWTN at the link posted above.

II. HOLY WEEK
  1. During Holy Week the Church celebrates the mysteries of salvation accomplished by Christ in the last days of his life on earth, beginning with his messianic entrance into Jerusalem.
****The Lenten season lasts until the Thursday of this week./**B] The Easter Triduum begins with the evening Mass of the Lord’s Supper, is continued through Good Friday with the celebration of the Passion of the Lord and Holy Saturday, to reach its summit in the Easter Vigil, and concludes with Vespers of Easter Sunday.

39. The Easter fast is sacred on the first two clays of the Triduum, in which according to ancient tradition the Church fasts “because the Spouse has been taken away”. (43) Good Friday is a day of fasting and abstinence; it is also recommended that holy Saturday be so observed, so that the Church, with uplifted and welcoming heart, be ready to celebrate the joys of the Sunday of the Resurrection. No red meat till Easter for me!

To throw a spanner in the works, our Priest told my son on Tuesday this week that Lent was officially over and he could have some chocolate! According to my son, the Priest told him that our Lenten fast lasts for 40 days reflecting Jesus’s time in the desert and once he came out of the desert that was the time when we could break our fast.
By the way, I have a question with respect to today’s fasting and abstinence, I normally have one meatless meal in the evening and that is all. Am I allowed to have anything else such as drinks?

Liquids are allowed, even if they contain nutrition.

Now I have to tell my mother she was right again! 😛 Lent ends on Holy Thursday, so what you “gave up” for Lent is okay to eat, but you still have to fast/abstain on Friday/Sat.

After Mass on Easter.

This year it is Saturday, Aprill 11th, 7:05pm Eastern Standard Time.

In Canada, we fast on Good Friday and are encouraged to on Holy Saturday. So I guess I’ll drink something other than water on Easter Sunday!👍

I am home from Good Fri services…I asked the priest to get a firm answer…Holy Saturday ends the Lenten fasting according to him…The fast on Good Fri is a Paschal Fast…

Wednesday was the last full day of Lent. Lent officially ends with services on Holy (Maundy) Thursday when the Triduum begins. At which time we enter even deeper into the Passion of Our Lord and, therefore, typically seek even **more **opportunities for prayer and fasting and almsgiving. It is NOT, however, still Lent. And the Triduum ends with the Easter Vigil – at which we seriously, joyfully, celebrate.
