Matthew 16:23
But he turned and said to Peter, “Get behind me, Satan! You are a hindrance to me. For you are not setting your mind on the things of God, but on the things of man.”

This verse has often made me wonder if Jesus knew when he met Judas, that he would be instrumental in his crucifixion. And then there is this:

Luke 2:35, Saint Simeon prophesied to Mary “a sword shall pierce through thy own soul also, that the thoughts of many hearts may be revealed.”

So what are your thoughts, did our Lord know or have an idea that Judas would betray him. I think it is clear after or at the agony in the garden if not before, he did. Could it have been that he knew “someone” would betray him?

The gospels indicate that Jesus knew the whole time, and that Jesus picked Judas with the fulfillment of scripture in mind.

We believe that Jesus is God, so, yes.

Matthew 26:24 The Son of man goeth as it is written of him: but woe unto that man by whom the Son of man is betrayed! it had been good for that man if he had not been born.

I wasn’t sure if Jesus knew the full truth until after the transfiguration. I should have stated that in the first post. It would have been a mercy to Jesus… maybe… until a certain time, to wait on letting him know the full extent of what he was going to do.

I of course know believe and accept the Trinity, but something very deeply significant happened at the transfiguration.

2 Pet 1: 17 He received honor and glory from God the Father when the voice came to him from the Majestic Glory, saying, “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased.”[b] 18 We ourselves heard this voice that came from heaven when we were with him on the sacred mountain.

Jesus knows the intention of every heart. Judas was no different.

Judas did exactly what the prophets said he would do.

He was furfillng scripture and God’s word.

Remember Judas only ever called Jesus ( Rabbi ). Unlike the other Apostles.

In Jesus we have perfect knowledge meeting perfect discretion. He knows what each person will do, but chooses not to show us what He knows until the right time. He treats each person with perfect charity, whatever form that may take, for the period of time God has allowed them to demonstrate through their choices whether they want an eternity with or without Him.

Perfectly put Brian
