I went to confession today. This priest knows me quite well and he brought something I said from a previous confession up.
Now… I understand the point he was trying to make was to sometimes listen to others instead of having things my way. And I understand that is sometimes what we need to do.
However (and I DON"T want to go into details) there are times when one has to do what they know is right. This is a secular situation and he has never been in it nor will he ever have to be in it. And I could NOT explain the whole situation to him in my first confessions since he only has 5 minutes and given his lack of knowledge, it would require at least 30 minutes to fully explain the whole thing.
It kind of hurt me how he used a stern tone of voice. And I genuinely want to take what he says to heart. However, in my heart of hearts, I know he does NOT fully understand the situation. I feel guilty not listening to him.
How do others handle it when their priest gives advice but it is not ‘knowledgeable’ advice?
