Sorry you feel scandlized.
“Scandal” isn’t a feeling.

Scandal is the action of teaching other people how to commit sin, by word or example - for example, by saying things like:
And I do feel great about what I did and I will continue to do so.
In the Book of Matthew, chapter 18, verse 6, Jesus says to us:

But if anyone causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him to have a large millstone hung around his neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea.

Hi, Tweetymon,

Could be it is time this topic returned to thread… but, you know… all of this boasting you are doing about how good you feel about your apparent illicit re-baptism is curious and maybe it can serve as a cautionary tale. Scandalizing others is never appropriate - and considering you have been advised by many and in several diverse ways - and still boast… well… those of us that have told you that you are in error have done all we can.

Continue to shamelessly boast away -

God bless
Sorry you feel scandlized. And I do feel great about what I did and I will continue to do so. I am glad that you are not perfect. And my Priest knows the whole story and He is a wonderful Roman Catholic Priest. Wrong? maybe in your eyes. And it will be a good thing when you are done judgeing. Maybe you need to clean up you act a little, 🙂 And m ay God Bless you always

With all due respect it scares me that you are teaching RCIA(or did I minsundersatand you?)
Agreed since she doesn’t even believe in Purgatory nor realized the Church still teaches this Dogma.

So either her Priest is very liberal, extremely naive to allow someone who lacks knowledge in basic Catholic Doctrine to teach converts to the faith, or she lied about teaching an RCIA course.

She definitely sounds like someone who has been greatly influenced by protestants.

Hi, Des,

The really sad part has been this prideful boasting about violating teaching of the CC - and then claiming it is OK because she feels good about it. The bottom line is that she is marching to her own drummer and refuses to interact on a positive or consructive note with those on the list.

And, if there is anything to the integrity of the healthy human mind - then it just is not possible to convincingly teach the beliefs of the CC while actively boasting of having broken them and a willingness ot rebreak them.

Sorry there was and never has been any prideful boasting and I do feel great about what I did at the time I was not attending CC And the only drum I am marching to is Christ love in my life:thumbsup: I was not trying to interact anything to anyone, only sharing my story and that alho I was baptised Catholic as an Infant I had no further training except when I was lucky enough to be taken to CC by my dear mexican Grandmother. So while you all can act as self righteous as you like, no one has walked in my shoes. I am not boasting anything except that I KNOW that I have a wonderful personal relationship with our Lord. I am back at the Church of my childhood, and I know that my grandmother is smiling in heaven:thumbsup: I am not boasting on myself only on God who is not in the business of judging me on how I came back to the faith. If I had my rathers I wish I had a Catholic upbring or had made the choice sooner. So those of you that have chosen to make this a thread on lets bash Tweetynom if you f eelike you are doing what God would have you do then go for it. Hey its your joke:thumbsup: So what ever you do or don’t do is not important to me and if you feel good doing it then be my guest And God B less

Hey tqualey. I agree with you totally.

Coming back to the Church and being re-baptized out of ignorance with some liberal Priest who knew better is one thing. Nobody can fault her there. However, to continue to insist, after being told otherwise, that God was leading her into being re-baptized, going against what He has taught us is a no no, through His Church is another. And to repeat that she is right and we are all wrong while we again tell her that Purgatory is indeed a Dogma of the faith, just like the Eucharist, just like the Sacrament of Confession does show us that she is not open to the truth of what her Church, as she calls it, proclaims. For if it really was her Church, then she’d listen to Her, the spotless Bride of Christ.

I also never realized preaching the truth as Catholics know it, to another Catholic, is a sign of righteousness within. I suppose that makes the very Apostles likewise self righteous since all they did was preach to Catholics the truth as they knew it, given to them by the Holy Spirit, though the Church.

If what you are doing is preaching it is a wonder to me. I have never never said that I was rebaptised by any Priest of the Catholic Church ignorant or not!!! I was rebaptised by a Baptised Pastor so now you can have something else to judge about OOPs sorry thats not what you are doing huh:shrug: And it is my Church and am very gratefil for the love of Christ that I don’t see here , but when you are supposed to be so right it doesn’t matter:shrug:🤷 Oh and olic
by the way I am a Boni fide Eucrasist minister, ad am Vice Pres of our Mr. and Mrs. society at our Parish and have also taught in our CC school and oh the scandel:rolleyes: of it all I feel that I am a very good Christian Catholic and I really feel sorry for you cause you do not know God very well or youn wouldn’t be so criticule;)

No, you said that your Episcopalian friend was, because you told her how wonderful it was when you did it, and lathered her up into such a state that the only way the priest could calm her down was by doing something that at least appeared to be a re-baptism. (It probably wasn’t, but that’s what you’ve been saying it was.)

Heads-up, tweetymom… time to take a good look at what is going on. So let’s just take a look at your last post.
Sorry there was and never has been any prideful boasting and I do feel great about what I did at the time I was not attending CC
Simply stated, you have been told that the CC condemns re-baptism, you have been given references on this and quite a few have tried to explain just why this is wrong. Your response is to express your pleasure and satisfaction at having done this - this is your story and you want to know you really do not care if this re-baptism represents any type of problem. This is prideful boasting: don’t bother me with the facts, my mind is made up. You are being told this because all of the poster love Christ and the Church He founded on Peter.
And the only drum I am marching to is Christ love in my life:thumbsup: I was not trying to interact anything to anyone, only sharing my story and that alho I was baptised Catholic as an Infant I had no further training except when I was lucky enough to be taken to CC by my dear mexican Grandmother.
No one is responsible for their childhood. We become responsible when we can take control, make and implement decisions as best we can. Let me welcome you the CC (albeing a bit late… 😃 … but, this is nonetheless a sincere welcome 👍
So while you all can act as self righteous as you like, no one has walked in my shoes.
This is where I think you are misiunderstanding the entire point of the discussion. No one is acting in a self-righteous manner - we are just telling you the rules of the game. In my opinion, if anyone is acting self-righteously, it isn’t us, my dear, but you. You would not expect to sit down to play a card game, break the rules, have your rule breaking exposed and then say, “But, this is my story. It is how I like to play - don’t preach to me about rules - this is me!!” Instead of thanking others for pointing out of the rules, you bitterly complain. It is really not an issue of “… walking in your shoes…” but, rather, simply just understanding that there are rules to follow - rules set up by the Church you say you are now a member in good standing.
I am not boasting anything except that I KNOW that I have a wonderful personal relationship with our Lord. I am back at the Church of my childhood, and I know that my grandmother is smiling in heaven:thumbsup:
Sounds great. 👍

QUOTE=tweetymom;5611953] I am not boasting on myself only on God who is not in the business of judging me on how I came back to the faith.

How you came back really should not be the issue - learning about our Catholic Faith and abiding by the rules of His Church is really what is expected now that you have arrived back to it.

QUOTE=tweetymom;5611953] So those of you that have chosen to make this a thread on lets bash Tweetynom if you f eelike you are doing what God would have you do then go for it. Please, relax. You are not being bashed - you are being given the rules to operate with as a member of the Catholic Church. The only one who really has been bashing you - has been you as you continue to proclaim ‘your story’ and the heck with everything else. Honest: welcome back, learn from what is going on and just move forward in the love of Christ. Simply stop with the martyrdom-complex and listen to what you are being told.

Now, if you don’t want to do this - well… that is another matter.

God bless

OOPs sorry thats not what you are doing huh.
If the facts were correct, it wasn’t judging at all.
by the way I am a Boni fide Eucharist minister, ad am Vice Pres of our Mr. and Mrs. society at our Parish and have also taught in our CC school and oh the scandel:rolleyes:
So a Eucharistic Minister who doesn’t believe in the Doctrine of Purgatory. I now wonder just how much your Priest knows about your beliefs.

And yes, keep rolling your eyes tweetymom cause scandalizing the faithful is exactly what you’d be doing if you so much as profess your erroneous personal beliefs even once to other Catholics trying to learn their faith. You’ve said you don’t yet you’re all to happy to do it on this forum I noticed.
I feel that I am a very good Christian Catholic and I really feel sorry for you cause you do not know God very well or youn wouldn’t be so criticule;)
There are those ‘I feel’ words again you love to use so much. Please don’t feel sorry for me though. Unlike you, I know God’s teachings well enough to feel sorry for when I actually go against them. And again. YOUR Church says re-baptism is wrong. YOUR Church says Purgatory exists. What are you going to do about it. Tell God He was wrong all of these Years because ‘you feel’ you are right?

If there is one thing that has always irritated me are folks who call themselves Catholics yet profess another faith even when corrected by the Church. If you seriously love God the way you say you do, then open your heart up to His Truth tweetymom and humble yourself to what the Bride of Christ proclaims to you.

Hi, Des,

There really is no easy answer for this - but, there is a simply one!

Maybe she would accept the challenge to honestly talk to her Pastor and frankly tell him about her view of re-baptism and there being no Purgatory. No glossing over with, “This is my story on how I came back to the CC…” but rather, “This is my story NOW as a member of the Catholic Church: I actively endorse re-baptism and I do not believe in Puragtory.” And, just listen to her Pastor’s response.

Forget all this arguing on the list - have her take it to her own Pastor since she doubts what we say and claims she directly following Christ - and just submit herself to Christ’s Church and be done with it.

Your logic is sound tqualey. And hopefully, the Holy Spirit moves tweety to do some reflecting with prayer and study regarding her beliefs and the Church. I wish her all the best. There’s nothing else I can really say on the matter.

And tweetymom, I’m off topic here but I think you’ve got the cutest little screen name. 🙂

What I said was that when I was asked about being rebaptised by a lady in RCIA who was Espiscopalian I refered her to our Priest who handled it by rebaptising her at Easter’ It did not appear it was a Baptism and you are so ignorant to think I had gotten her all worked up I have never told her of my rebaptism so how would she know? This was between her and the Priest and our Bishohe did and by the way He had to approve before it was done which he did and regardless if you think I had anything to do with it gosh you must think I am more important than the Priest or Bishop:blush:

As I have stated at least 2 dozen times my Pastor knows all about me and I have been very frank with him and no secrets. I have never lied about anything I do at Church .I never doubted anything you have said and I did not say I activly endorse rebaptism but that it was what happened to me and no I don’t gloat but I do not feel bad about it And let me tell you one more time MY PASTOR KNOWS EVERYTHING I have talked to him about this subject and dozens of others

Sir I am in prayer a lot and have done 10 years of Bible study and I am hopeing that there is nothing more you can say cause all it is is judgemental talking not only do you have selective heaing you have selectve reading. Oh and thank you about my screen name I think!

Remember the Old testament Too. NUmbers 8:7 Thus you shall do to them to cleanse them: Sprinkle water of purification on them, Isa 52:15 So shall he sprinkle many nations; the kings shall shut their mouths at him

Maybe you need to do more than a few of the things you are suggesting for me to do. And I do not profess another faith. . And one thing that angers me are people who think they have all the answers. I said that I didn’t know if purgurity is taught cause I have never heard it taught and nice lady named Dorothy said the scripture was in 2nd Maccabees
well good enough And for the dozen and 3rd time my Pastor knows everythg about me I have no secrets to keep Why would I:shrug:

I’m not talking about taking your Bible alone and reading it. I’m talking about actually reading what the Church teaches as Dogma and why. Truth that cannot be changed.
And one thing that angers me are people who think they have all the answers. I said that I didn’t know if purgatory is taught cause I have never heard it taught and nice lady named Dorothy said the scripture was in 2nd Maccabees

You teach RCIA correct? Why didn’t you know that Purgatory is taught by the Church. And why did you ask for Scriptural verses to check and see if Dorothy was correct regarding Purgatory which in the end, didn’t seem like you were too convinced. You seem to want to see if it’s explicitly in the Bible first before you believe it even if you know as others have told you, that Purgatory is a Dogmatic truth proclaimed by the Church.
So what is it tweety? Are you a believer in Purgatory or not? If not, then why? Do you believe someone can be re-baptized if they want when already baptized properly even though you now know these two things contradict your Churches teachings?

I don’t know how much nicer I can ask these questions. Just please don’t call it judging again or I’m going to make like Daffy Duck and go bonkers over here. :whacky:

Tweety, I am not criticising you at all.

I can see how people can get confused though. You say that you were REbaptised, and that your Episcopalian convert friend was re-baptised as well.

I think you have understood that RE-baptism is forbidden in the Catholic Church, and I am sure that your friend was conditionally baptised, I am aware of such cases when perhaps the Episcopal priest got the words of baptism confused and did not say “I baptise you in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit” or maybe the priest said the words first and then baptised her. (It has to be done at the same time). Or perhaps your friend had lost her baptismal certificate and had no proof of her baptism. I have even heard of cases where Protestant ministers “baptise” with rose petals instead of water. In any case the Catholic priest would have never baptise anyone outright who had already been baptised. The Catholic church recognises Episcopal baptism as valid and would never re-baptise.

When I converted from the Episcopal to the Catholic church I was confirmed and not RE-baptised.

And congratulations on your coming home to the Catholic church.
