Well, following the rules of the Church is how we get to Heaven, so, not following them would - yes - cause you to end up someplace that is not Heaven. It’s not all that complicated, really - it’s just like following the turns on a map.

But if you turn the opposite way of what it says, on one of the turns, then you won’t end up where you had planned to go, will you?
Jesus said, “Be ye perfect, even as your Father in Heaven is perfect.” He gave us the Church in order to make that possible.

Church isn’t always about touchy feely, happy worshipping, We go there for the Mass and to be ONE with our fellow parishioners. One Faith remember. Actually, the idea of dunking the 3,000 new believers that Peter preached to on that first Pentecost Sunday - would have represented a major problem. Jerusalem is not on the sea coast, does not have a river running through the city and putting that many people into the municiple water supply would have probably been frowned on the the Roman authority’s equavalent of Public Health…

And I feel very sorry for those that have no joy or happiness in what Christ has done for them. I am aware that once saved is not a truism and have never advocated that. You should also be aware that one does not “get saved” in this lifetime - that doesn’t happen until after we die. That’s why we always have to be learning and improving ourselves. Nobody will get into Heaven except for those who became perfect in every way by the end of their life - by Gods grace, of course, but we also have to cooperate with His grace.
