How right you are! “Baby sprinkling”, indeed! This is Holy Baptism. The Immersionists deny the very meaning and efficacy of Baptism, yet they get so worked up over the manner of administering it. They have dunking, but they have no Baptism, apart from what God graciously may grant them, anyway, despite all their hostility to Baptism’s sacramentality. Baptism saves!

Thank God for Baptism - and thanks to the parents who, through the Grace of God, took the initiative to have their infants baptized into God’s Family! “Let the little children come unto me, for such is the kingdom of heaven” (Matt 19:14).

With so much Church History, and the full knowledge that the Holy Spirit would never allow the Catholic Church to teach error - you just have to wonder where these guys get off on the idea that the way the water hits the body makes all the difference. You know, the Pharisees were not the only ones who were troubled with straining out gnats!

This is really a complex issue - at least to me.

I am also amazed at what people are saying about each other as I have been reading through this thread…Just stick to the argument rather then judge and put down another believer in Christ…Don’t people realize we will will give account for idle words…Aren’t we supposed esteem one another and let our words be seasoned with grace…We are to radiate the fragrance of Christ to our brothers and sisters and the lost…Do you realize a persons maturity or lack of it can show in your posts…peace to you…

While I, too, would like everyone to be nice and inspiring, the list is made up of 100% flawed human beings! The majority are trying to follow Christ but do not necessarily express themselves in loving terms. Here’s the rub: the person you admonished has been bragging about having knowingly received multiple baptisms. This is strictly contrary to the laws of the Church and the poster has been shown this material. Unfortunately, that poster would much rather spend time bragging about this multiplicity - and then being critical of those who try to give good and sound doctrine.

Personally, besides continued prayers, I think we have done all tha we can. Some think that further admonishment would be helpful - but, really, there is very little factual evidence to support this conclusion. I think the basic idea (at least in my mind) is that the poster had very little in life to brag about, and now clings to this as some sort of watery badge of honor. Like the Bishop of Rhode Island’s question to Rep. Kennedy, “What does it mean to be a Catholic?” If the answer provided is not to follow Christ as closely as you can by following the laws of the Chruch, attending Sunday Mass, attend Confession and receive Confession once a year, etc., then one is simply not being a Catholoic.

Thanks Tom…I heard her story and know other christians(baby baptized) who experienced the same as she shared…Hey were all following Christ the best we can as He teaches us in His word…I can see admonishing someone in the way you believe but some of the comment was brutal…I have been walking with Christ for almost 40 years and heard seen alot in the body of Christ…My heart actually ached for her at some of the responses…Whether you see it right or wrong it was still unkind…I found over the years that if I don’t agree with someone is to pray…God has a way of knowing the best way to deal with His kids…Knowing I will give account one day really helps keep my speech seasoned with grace…Peace to you…K

The thread here is 382 posts in length, as I begin my comment.

When I read Cody’s OP, it occurred to me that it is very ambiguous.

Is it about “sprinkling” versus “immersion”?

Is it about baptizing “babies” versus baptizing “adults”?

Cody calls herself “Independent Baptist.” And she has her own “Baptist” site. So, the question arises, Does Cody even mean something akin to sacramental “baptism,” with baptismal intent needed to conform sufficiently to our Baptism to make it objectively valid?

I checked the thread. Cody only posted her OP, and then a thin, uninformative comment.

There is a respectable chance that no one in the thread even talked about what Cody was talking about!

so if some want to be hostile by all means be my guest. I feel honored when people are hostile to me because of my walk with Christ.

Yes but mostly the power of prayer, like personal prayer. Ministry in the Church and outside the Church, Things you do as a ministry to others in Christ’s name. Helping the homebond, which my husband and I do weekly. Cleaning the chursch and all sort of ministries. All the groups in Church that provide ministry of one sort or another.

However, it is impossible to teach prayer without teaching doctrine. Even if you teach generic and nebulous concepts (example: “let’s get in touch with the God within”), that’s a doctrine.

Also, it sounds like you’re not really “teaching” ministry, but leading a group of people who clean a church. After all, how do you “teach” someone service? You just say, “Jesus told us to do this, so come sign up to feed the homeless!”, right?

I am not leading a group of people who clean the church. I am teaching what a ministry is . That was just an example, We talk about the Knights of Columbus Caring Connection. Catholic Daughters. You do not teach someone service you teach what is available and the importance of being involved in service to the Church and the people there. No I do not say anything like that about prayer or ministry… It is an important part of RCIA> Maybe you need to go back for a refresher course. I really do npt understand you sarcasim either
