Giver:
This is ludicrous…please show me in official Catholic teaching where the Church says that we “should” associate with those that are guilty of leading immoral lives. Ok!
The church doesn’t have to say that. The New Testament says plainly that Jesus associated with sinners.
Actually, “ludicrous” is the best word for anyone who comes along saying that he “has a word from the Lord” (proclaiming himself to be a prophet!) and then attempts to teach something contrary to the Word of God as you do. You’ve been shown you error Robert. Now it’s just sin.
The early Church didn’t allow usury. It is evil and people who are involved are doing an evil thing.
Do you have a mortgage on your house, make car payments, or have any credit cards?
I would say that it must have been a Catholic practice for the Bishops and priest who knew that those sexually immoral priests were among them and did not have them removed, but associated with and most likely had eaten with.
See my point on your first statement. Here… I’ll prove you wrong scripturally again:
1 Matthew 9:11 And the Pharisees seeing it, said to his disciples: Why doth your master eat with publicans and sinners?
2 Mark 2:16 And the scribes and the Pharisees, seeing that he ate with publicans and sinners, said to his disiples: Why doth your master eat and drink with publicans and sinners?
3 Luke 5:30 But the Pharisees and scribes murmured, saying to his disciples: Why do you eat and drink with publicans and sinners?
4 Mark 2:15 And it came to pass, that as he sat at meat in his house, many publicans and sinners sat down together with Jesus and his disciples. For they were many, who also followed him.
5 Luke 15:2 And the Pharisees and the scribes murmured, saying: This man receiveth sinners, and eateth with them.
6 Matthew 9:10 And it came to pass as he was sitting at meat in the house, behold many publicans and sinners came, and sat down with Jesus and his disciples.
7 Matthew 9:13 Go then and learn what this meaneth, I will have mercy and not sacrifice. For I am not come to call the just, but sinners.
8 Matthew 11:19 The Son of man came eating and drinking, and they say: Behold a man that is a glutton and a wine drinker, a friend of publicans and sinners. And wisdom is justified by her children.
9 Mark 2:17 Jesus hearing this, saith to them: They that are well have no need of a physician, but they that are sick. For I came not to call the just, but sinners.
10 Luke 5:32 I came not to call the just, but sinners to penance.
11 Luke 7:34 The Son of man is come eating and drinking: and you say: Behold a man that is a glutton and a drinker of wine, a friend of publicans and sinners.
You like to say that you have proven me wrong Scripturally, but fail to show me Scripturally where I’m wrong. In fact I’m still waiting for you answers from my thread on sin.
This is totally untrue. I personally have shown you several times on this and other threads where you are in grave error and yet you persist in it.
In fact, I thought of you at Mass yesterday morning as I read over the Bible passages that we would hear. Here is the one that applies here.
Deuteronomy 18:15 The Lord thy God will raise up to thee a prophet of thy nation and of thy brethren like unto me: him thou shalt hear:
16 As thou desiredst of the Lord thy God in Horeb, when the assembly was gathered together, and saidst: Let me not hear any more the voice of the Lord my God, neither let me see any more this exceeding great fire, lest I die. 17 And the Lord said to me: They have spoken all things well. 18 I will raise them up a prophet out of the midst of their brethren like to thee: and I will put my words in his mouth, and he shall speak to them all that I shall command him. 19 And he that will not hear his words, which he shall speak in my name, I will be the revenger. 20 But the prophet, who being corrupted with pride, shall speak in my name things that I did not command him to say, or in the name of strange gods, shall be slain.
21 And if in silent thought thou answer: How shall I know the word that the Lord hath not spoken? 22 Thou shalt have this sign: Whatsoever that same prophet foretelleth in the name of the Lord, and it cometh not to pass: that thing the Lord hath not spoken, but the prophet hath forged it by the pride of his mind: and therefore thou shalt not fear him.
You have put yourself in a very serious and dangerous position Robert.
