I must confess that I haven’t been praying the Liturgy the Hours and have completely lost where we are. Which week are we in? Thanks mucho!

Week 2 of the Psalter…this Sunday 3rd. Sunday in Ordinary time commences Week 3 of the Psalter.

Blessings - Barb:)

In Ordinary time divide the number of the week by four. If the remainder is one - week 1, two - week 2, 3 - week 3, zero - week 4.

Uhmm, don’t cha mean, divide 4 by the number of the week?

4/2 = 2?

Jim

It still doesn’t make sense to me.

2 divided by 4 = .5, not 0.

6 divided by 4 = 1.5

What am I doing wrong?

Jim
Neither of you is wrong, you’re just both doing the math differently.

Just, his trick relies on figuring out the quotient and remainder, whereas your’s is more “precise.”

What he’s doing is dividing like you used to before you learned all of how division works. Basically, he divides but stops dividing before he gets to decimals. Whatever is “left over” is the remainder, which is what he’s talking about.

See if that helps.
