It’s been a great time here on CAF and I really wished I had discovered It much sooner. I’m curious as to where are you all planning to go? I know some are going to St.Isidore’s lounge but what about the rest of you?

I have no idea where I am going to go and may not go anywhere. Sometimes when you are on a forum you can find yourself spending too much time on it. I don’t know if there is a good replacement and whether I may just not bother any more when CAF shuts down.

I understand CAF never gets rid of threads and posts so I’m wondering what it will do when it ceases to be active. Will everything just disappear or will they retain what is already here?

I’ve joined a couple, but I’m also looking forward to regaining more time and actually reading books, articles in paper form .The internet is too addictive for me 😶
Swapping some contacts details with friends that I’ve made will help not be cut off altogether, and still have good dialogue with likeminded people .I don’t do Facebook because I know I would be inundated ,I enjoy a simple life and wish to keep it that way.

I have not decided what to do yet. I suppose I must hurry. I know I can search for fora when this one closes but it may be better to get recommendations off here while it is still live.

I feel exactly the same about Facebook. I prefer to live real life than to tell people, who are not the least bit interested, how I spent my morning. Plus I am not giving Mark Zuckerberg all my information.

I copied this information from a post that member MarysLurker posted in Evagelization here at CAF on November 25:

Here is a list of available Catholic forums that MarysLurker posted:

These are the ones I am aware of thus far.

Catholic Common Sense - https://catholiccommonsense.freeforums.net
Catholic Community Forum - www.catholicforum.com
Phatmass - https://www.phatmass.com/phorum/ (this one is older than CAF itself)
St. Isidrore’s Lounge - private and invite only, PM @Tis_Bearself for link.
Byzcath Forum - http://www.byzcath.org/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=cfrm (Eastern Christianity focused inclusive of Orthodoxy.)
Coming Home Network - https://community.chnetwork.org (private)

I am not personally familiar with the following but have added them after research
Catholic Tapatalk Group - https://www.tapatalk.com/groups/catholicdiscussion/

I am not personally familiar with this forum but the owner was promoting it here until he got suspended for spamming the forum
Catholics Around the World - https://www.catholicsaroundtheworld.org/ (a new website with a forum, which includes a space for single Catholics to meet other Catholics)

Thanks for adding these additional lists, @Tis_Bearself.

I was not even aware that some of these forums existed, between the ones that MarysLurker posted, and the ones that you listed. 🙂

Thank you that’s given me some research to do and I suppose I’d better note them now as I understand this forum will not be archived so when it closes everything goes.

Re the above, I’m making this announcement once and only once at the suggestion of a friend and longtime poster here.

I’m pretty sure at this point I’ve heard from the overwhelming majority, if not all, of the people who are interested in joining the above fellowship forum.
If there is anybody out there who isn’t already signed up/ hasn’t already discussed with me, and thinks they might be interested, I recommend you do one of the following:
  1. Contact me via PM on this forum before Dec. 31 to discuss; OR
  2. If you don’t want to join now but think you might be interested in a few weeks or months, need more time to think about it, want to take a forum break for a while and then maybe etc., then make sure that you are in contact with someone from CAF who’s already an active member and can put you in touch with me.
There will be no reliable way to contact me directly after the Dec. 31 shutdown of this forum.

Merry Christmas and thank you for your support.

I see, well for me I havent checked out the others. I signed up for St.Isidore’s lounge it strikes me as a safe place mostly entirely Roman Catholic which is great. But, what I liked about CAF is that it was a safe place but there were also plenty of dissenting opinions that kept things interesting.

I signed on again at Australian Atheists. But gee…pretty boring.
