Where do you go to Mass? It seems like the lions share of the of the posts here are about the SSPX.
I’ve never been to an SSPX mass, even though there is a chapel reasonably close by. My family attends an FSSP parish.Where do you go to Mass? It seems like the lions share of the of the posts here are about the SSPX.
St Jude the Apostle Parish in Taunton, Ma. Novus Ordo.
Reverence is important. The Tabernacle is at the center. I’ll not try to compete with the SSPX folks…because they have all the answers. I’m just a Holy See following Catholic.
Ooops, so sorry. I’m experimenting with creating a poll and my experiment has failed. Let me see if I can fix this and get this right.
Read their website. Catholics that attend the Novus Ordo Mass are not Catholics. The cheap shot comes from their own words.Im sorry, but what does that mean? “They have all the answers”? FYI, I have never been to an SSPX Chapel, Mass, or anything…just would like to know why you levied a cheap shot against them

MAYBE I SHOULD SAY…THEY CLAIM THE NOVUS ORDO MASS IS NOT CATHOLIC. THAT YOU WILL FIND ON THEIR WEBSITE.
There’s no need to shout. Could you please provide a link or links? The SSPX website is quite large.Read their website. Catholics that attend the Novus Ordo Mass are not Catholics. The cheap shot comes from their own words.

SSPX says that Catholics cannot attend the Novus Ordo Mass. Please see their FAQPlease cite, with sources where they say that anyone who attends a Novus Ordo Mass is not a Catholic? Granted, they discourage attendance, because of the changing of the words of Consecration and the form allows for much abuse, etc…but they have never said the Novus Ordo is invalid, only that it is open to abuses and invalidity due to its form…not that it is inherently invalid. There is a huge difference.
Not to nit-pick, but it seems to me the options in the poll are a bit strange. For one thing, there is a button for “Eastern Orthodox” but nothing for Eastern/Oriental Churches in union with Rome. The second is that there are buttons for both the FSSP and ICRSS even though they are, (to my knowledge, at least) not “in competition” with one another and rarely (if at all) overlap the same territory.Ooops, so sorry. I’m experimenting with creating a poll and my experiment has failed. Let me see if I can fix this and get this right.
I did not say that. You said that. I said that SSPX says that! Don’t put words into my mouth and likewise don’t assume.I prefer the TLM to the Novus Ordo, does that make me anti-Catholic or anti-Novus Ordo? Do you assume I think all Catholics who do not attend the TLM are any less Catholic? Assumptions, assumptions
Since you can’t or won’t provide a link, I found it.SSPX says that Catholics cannot attend the Novus Ordo Mass. Please see their FAQ
Well there you go. The Novus Ordo is sinful.Since you can’t or won’t provide a link, I found it.

However, regardless of the gravity of the sacrilege, the New Mass still remains a sacrilege, and it is still in itself sinful.

Sorry but this is bogus logic. If it is a sacrilege nobody should attend. The way it is presented has a strong gnostic background.Since you can’t or won’t provide a link, I found it.

It does not say that Catholics cannot attend the Novus Ordo. It says that *traditional *Catholics who understand and agree with the SSPX’s position cannot attend.
However, regardless of the gravity of the sacrilege, the New Mass still remains a sacrilege, and it is still in itself sinful. Furthermore, it is never permitted to knowingly and willingly participate in an evil or sinful thing, even if it is only venially sinful. For the end does not justify the means. Consequently, although it is a good thing to want to assist at Mass and satisfy one’s Sunday obligation, it is never permitted to use a sinful means to do this. To assist at the New Mass, for a person who is aware of the objective sacrilege involved, is consequently at least a venial sin. It is opportunism. Consequently, it is not permissible for a traditional Catholic, who understands that the New Mass is insulting to Our Divine Savior, to assist at the New Mass, and this even if there is no danger of scandal to others or of the perversion of one’s own Faith (as in an older person, for example), and even if it is the only Mass available.
Thanks!!!From their website.
The Novus Ordo Missae, even when said with piety and respect for the liturgical rules, …is impregnated with the spirit of Protestantism. It bears within it a poison harmful to the faith
If it “bears within it a poison harmful to the faith” then it can hardly be Catholic.
The SSPX are masters at the way they use words so that while they may actually say something when one looks at the words there is enough there for denibility.
I will just go with Pope Benedicts statement that the SSPX has no ministry within the Catholic Church.
