Now before replying that this is just nonsense, I must express that it is a serious issue and so should not be ignored.

So, my questions are:

What is the “Moon God”?

How do people interpret Islam’s Allah as the “Moon God”?

How are these people right/wrong? Why is Allah not the “Moon God”?

And please, I would like some detailed answers. Don’t expect one-liner answers will be sufficient in any way here. Thanks.

I think we should avoid incendiary posts on the CAF and stick to Catholic issues.

But for the record, the word Allah, simply means God in Arabic, so I dont think we should go around blaspheming and condemning them even if their understanding of God is flawed. God bless.

I mean, I don’t think Islam has such a thing called “Moon God”. I am just interested how a concept in a religion can be misrepresented.

It is my understanding that those who claim “Allah” derives from an Arabian “Moon God”…do not take into account that “El”, one of the names and root words for “God” in the Hebrew scriptures stems from a Caananite diety. Nor do they take into account that those Arabic Christians also use the name “Allah” to designate “God”…and no one raises an eyebrow.

I consider the “moon god myth” in relation to Islam in the same vein I view Jack Chick’s claims concerning the Catholic church…in fact…I beleive Mr. Chick has an anti Muslim tract which details his understanding of the “moon god myth”.

JL: Hubal, was the pagan moon god, at Mecca long before Mohammed, along with other lesser idols or gods. The black stone, which was thought to have fallen from the moon was put in a small temple called Kaaba and worshiped as sacred to Hubal the moon god. Pilgrims would come at the new moon after the solstice to worship the moon god. They would touch and kiss the stone and walk around the Kaaba seven times, just as Moslems do today, although only the black stone remains the other idols were removed.
How do people interpret Islam’s Allah as the “Moon God”?
JL: Not sure but I think it is because the black stone still remains. Most Moslem’s have a moon on their flags, also on top of some mosques. The source of my info is the book, The History of Islam by Robert Payne, 300 pages, easy read. I don’t know that it discusses that point and I don’t have time to look for the real answer.
How are these people right/wrong? Why is Allah not the “Moon God”?
JL: I think Moslems worship the true and only God today, even if their knowledge of the true God is way off.

El Shaddai is identified explicitly with the God of Abraham, its in exodus and amazingly inscriptions have been found in the slave mining caves in Egypt which are accurately dated to before the Exodus. But there is a confusion in this terminology over the tribal god of the Mesopotamians for sure.

Moon God=Morrigu, Danu, Brigit, Mab, Blodeuwedd, Cerridwen, Cernunnos, Herne, Arianrhod, Nimue, Aphrodite, Artemis, Circe, Selene, Hera, Hecate, Demeter, Bendis, Venus, Juno, Vesta, Luna, Ceres, Cybele, Diana, Jupiter, Lucina, Hathor, Isis, Meshkent, Ta-urt, Khensu, Horus, Thoth, Ptah, Sin, Mama Quilla, Coyolxauhqui, Tzaphiel, Ishtar, Kuan Yin, Lilith, Inanna, Astarte.

Anyway

If you view photos of Diana, she use’s the Quarter Moon with Star emblem of Islam. I never really researched dates or really desired to though. Maybe someone from the Nation of Islam knows more. I’'m sure they do they are avid followers of their faith. I’m sure this is where this falacy or confusion come from.

On both sides I believe its speculation though as I mention, not my thing.

The lunar deities ( al-Lat, Al-Uzza, and Manat ) that the q’ran says can be/are to be worshipped are female, not male.

As I understand, Islam uses the moon symbol to signify Ramadan…not a “mood god”.

I couldln’t tell you my friend as I mention not really my thing. I have heard the above correlation and seen a couple photos. But that a $2, bucks will buy a coffee at DDs:D

I figure its gonna be one way or another, either we will learn to live together as brothers and sisters, or most certainly we will perish together as fools.🤷

Allah is a generic term for god and so the chief god among some 300 * was called allah

Allah of Islam has no personal name-but is he, the third person pronoun.

Next time a muslim accusses you have holding onto a pagan ritual remind them that people have always waked around the kaaba. Mohammad simply changed the direction.

In the Quran allah supposedly denies the crucifixion. ** There is only one being that would deny Jesus was crucified.***

Problem here:
Muslims do not believe in mulicultualism, letting all peoples live as brothers and sisters.

Islam is a horrible ideology that promotes inequality for women and non-muslims.

Have you read the Quran? Here are a few verses:

9.29 Fight those who believe not in Allah nor the Last Day, nor hold that forbidden which hath been forbidden by Allah and His Messenger, nor acknowledge the religion of Truth, (even if they are) of the People of the Book, until they pay the Jizya with willing submission, and feel themselves subdued.

Feel the love:
9.30 The Jews call 'Uzair a son of Allah, and the Christians call Christ the son of Allah. That is a saying from their mouth; they but imitate what the unbelievers of old used to say. Allah’s curse be on them: how they are deluded away from the Truth!

9.33 It is He Who hath sent His Messenger with guidance and the Religion of Truth, to proclaim it over all religion, even though the Pagans may detest.

The only sure way a Muslim can reach paradise:
9.111 Allah hath purchased of the believers their persons and their goods; for theirs is the garden (of Paradise): they fight in His cause, and slay and are slain: a promise binding on Him in truth, through the Law, the Gospel, and the Qur’an: and who is more faithful to his covenant than Allah? then rejoice in the bargain which ye have concluded: that is the achievement supreme.

a promise binding on Him in truth, through the Law, the Gospel Where is this in the Gospel?
Ever hear of sharia law? Read any of the hadith?

Muslims are to follow in Mohammad’s example- he married a six year old and consumated the marriage when she was 9. Mohammad was in his 50’s?

Best article I’ve found on the subject:

One of the favourite arguments of the Christian missionaries over many years had been that Allah of the Qur’an was in fact a pagan Arab “Moon-god” from pre-Islamic times. The seeds of this argument were sown by the work of the Danish scholar Ditlef Nielsen, who divided the Semitic deities into a triad of Father-Moon, Mother-Sun and Son-Venus.[1] His ideas (esp., triadic hypothesis) were used uncritically by later scholars who came to excavate many sites in the Near East and consequently assigned astral significance to the deities that they had found. Since 1991 Ditlef Nielsen’s views were given a new and unexpected twist by the Christian polemicist Robert Morey. In a series of pamphlets, books and radio programs, he claimed that “Allah” of the Qur’an was nothing but the pagan Arab “Moon-god”.

The authors go on to give tons and tons of evidence to support their argument that this bizarre “moon god” claim is entirely insubstantial.

It’s kind of long but it’s a good read on the subject if you’re genuinely interested: islamic-awareness.org/Quran/Sources/Allah/moongod.html

A crescent moon was a symbol of the Ottoman empire–it has no special significance in Islam.

More directly it was a symbol of the Christian city of Constantinople, adopted by the Ottoman’s after the conquest. Muslims only used the symbol, they didn’t create it as an object of worship.

thankfully my friend. only 1% of Muslims take these passages literally. unfortunately that 1 % adds up to 10 million…Most Muslims just want to be left alone, to raise their families, and be left alone. Just like us. They also have some wonderful cultural aspects that I for one, since I live among these people enjoy. They are not all terrorist. As far as the Moon god thing goes? Ive always heard that Allah is the moon god, and Mohammed simply chose him from all the other pagan deities the Arab people used to worship. Nothing has convinced me otherwise. The Christians and Jews are united by virtue of the Tetrigrammitan. Allah is something different in my opinion. Peace 🙂

The crescent moon symbol was found prior to the Ottoman Islamic empire, however, I think the Ottoman empire did a big mistake by adapting that symbol, now the question would be have they done it on ignorant basis or they knew what they were doing, which makes that myth true…

It dates back at least to the Goddess Diana/Isis who is talked about in NT in regards to pagan Worship. The Christians had the hardest time with this Goddess. They refused to let that go. The Apostle Paul encounted riots over this in Ephesians.

It could only be but one way, either its a mistake with Islam or its intentional? Theres no inbetween. The Goddess is still venerated today never mind through the early centurys. And if we are aware of this today, it impossible in 600 they were not.

Kaaba was Pagan worship before Mohammad bought it.

Sura 53. an-Najm: The Star

19 Have ye thought upon Al-Lat and Al-'Uzza
20 And Manat, the third, the other ?

Are you claiming that:
  • the Q’ran is a lie;
  • Mohammed wrote lies in the Q’ran?
Let us not forget that al-Lat, Al-Uzza, and Manat are the daughters of Hubal, the moon god of Mecca. And that the Kaaba in Mecca was where Hubal was worshipped.

Asherah was worshipped in the Temple in Jerusalem as well during parts of Hebrew history as well.
