Where is all the March for Life Coverage?

I love seeing young faces and faces of members of minority groups; the more we can do to quash the notion that only “little old (white) ladies in tennis shoes” are pro-life, the better. I love that there is now a sort of “pro-life boot camp” for college students; one of the young ladies from Steubenville spoke of this on EWTN.

Nellie Gray is a saint, but perhaps she could become “emeritus” as it is time that savvy, smart, fearless young people of all colors become the face of this march, and of the movement.
Very poignant insight. I think that the formal rally events, itself, could be much improved, actually, by some injection of younger leadership. Shoot, how about a better contemporary nouveau media push, even in conjunction with it? So many of these kids have handheld devices of some sort and they’re all on the internet. Who needs mass media coverage when you have youtube and facebook and blogging and everything else under the sun at your disposal? What about a few jumbotrons showing dynamic video production? Or a program which is something more than just a stream of speeches to recognize people who’ve come out to the event. Make it something which will force people beyond our own little circle to TAKE notice by its innovation and excitement. Certainly Nellie (who I agree is a dear lady, having met her and even once taking the opportunity to personally escort her to a destination she had some trouble finding at a major pro-life event) should be a significant presence. But perhaps she needs to pass the torch as the primary public face at this point. She’s a great woman who has done an awesome thing for so long. But she’s SO 1970s and its time to move everything forward a bit for greater effectiveness.

I would also say that perhaps part of what needs to happen is to better publicize and cover the ancillary events which are such a key component of the overall experience. Most of the focus gets placed upon the Mass at the Basilica and the actual March. But anyone who actually attends will note how the other Masses and rallies and talks and gatherings are highlights. Anyone left at home doesn’t get a good taste of that. I’d love to see a story in either secular or religious press (of whatever media) which takes us inside those areas and offers a taste of that part of things better. It sems to me that therin lies something of the real story potential which ought to be told. There is a lot of human interest type of things which a creative journalist could make of this, also, if only they were better guided by solid promotional assistance and a good media relations staff. So often it is just a matter of directing the press and helping them to find the story which is of interest that they can use (and which you want to get out there to the public.)

Yes Chicago, I agree. One of my favorite events is the interfaith prayer service that has speakers, and this year it was held in the new visitors center at the capital.

I also agree with another poster that the march could be updated a little. I think it is awesome, but I do think we could bring in some famous singers and entertainers also that are prolife. I think the march is fun, but I would like to walk farther. It is really like a shuffle and not a walk. It is soooo crowded!

FOX did a quick nod to the event later on in the evening but that’s about all the mainstream media video coverage out there. Thank God for EWTN.

I get the NY Daily News-I’m from Upstate NY, NOT NYC-and there was NOTHING on the March for Life! Typical tabloid  -blech.

And there was nothing on NBC News that night, either. I don’t have cable or satellite, and I can’t get EWTN on my computer (don’t know why 🤷 ). The MSM can blather on about the pro-abort President we have, and completely ignore the tens of thousands who came to Washington and said (by their presence) WE ARE NOT GOING AWAY!

I’ve never been to the March for Life-I was either working and had no time, or not working and had no money (I’m the latter now).

But what can you expect from the MSM, anyway?

If you can watch EWTN. I have the San Francisco march on right now.

FOX doesn’t count as MSM. I want to know if anyone saw any coverage on NBC, CBS, or ABC news. If not, we all need to write and complain. They have to realize why we are tuning them out.

We can all say thank God for EWTN or FOX, but we need to actively complain to MSM or we will never effect change. If 20 Palestinians were marching at Daly Plaza in Chicago, it would make the nightly news. If 10 anti-war activists were maching anwhere and hanging a effigy of Bush, then we would have coverage. If one person in the Middle East burns and American flag, we have coverage. Come on the bias is extreme and it is shaping our nation. 300,000. people marched in the Capital an we saw almost nothing, not a peep! I am so insulted.

I suggest that we scrap the march and put a single naked lady covered only by an American flag in the middle of Constitution Avenue (or Michigan Avenue in Chicago - right on the bridge, for that matter.) Certainly this will garner much more attention for our cause.

I have a suggestion - if you can give any support to EWTN, monetary or prayers or both, do so in gratitude for their complete coverage of the March for Life and the Walk for Life! 🙂
This bad economy has got to be affecting them as they are donation funded…

I would believe that. Cameras everywhere at the mass at the National Bascilica the night before and cameras around the march. Have to love EWTN!
EWTN has great coverage! I can’t get streaming video at work but will watch the re-broadcast tonight.
