I keep a prayer candle going often, and I go through them quickly. I use the glass pillar candles with images of saints or Jesus or Mary. Parafin wax is unhealthy to burn, so I thought of reusing old candle jars and buying some soy wax and wicks to refill them. However, then I thought how nice it would be to find others with saints I can’t find jars for locally. I don’t want to buy them already filled with candles; pre-made soy candles are prohibitively expensive. Any ideas where I can find empty candle jars with saints images? I’m particularly interested in Saint Michael the Archangel and Francis of Assisi, but others too. I’m looking for glass jars. If I had a printer I’d find empty plain jars and make my own stickers for them, but no printer access.

Admin: I didn’t know where to put this thread. If this is the wrong forum, please move it to where it would be most appropriate.

I’ve seen candle covers at catholic companies online, but a very limited selection…not like the one’s you’re talking about. I have save the jars for some candles with a similar intention. Putting them in the freezer after they are almost finished the frozen wax can usually just be popped out…I’ll give it a try myself, I didn’t know about paraffin being dangerous, and I light these candles quite often…

Just buy empty jars at Michael’s Craft stores or Hobby Lobby and print out your own labels.
They don’t need pictures on them to be effective, though. 🤷

I like the pictures. I do not have access to a printer. Good thinking otherwise.

Mexican grocery stores! Or any grocery store that has a large mexican/hispanic section.

No joke.

Perhaps you can buy some prayer cards from say, leafletonline.com and decoupage them to a glass “sleeve” or the outside of a lantern, and then just stick the soy jar candle inside of it.

That’s where I get my candles … but she wants to use a different wax, so she is looking for empty jars to put a different kind of wax into.

Just to give you something different to consider…

I too used to keep a glass prayer candle burning. I noticed one
afternoon that sometime since I had last looked at it, that a crack
had formed across the glass ! I had assumed that the glass for a
glass candle wouldn’t do that, but it did. I immediately blew the candle
out. For safety reasons, I then bought a real wax candle, but it lights up
by batteries instead of a burning flame. It flickers like a fire burning one,
is beautiful, reminds of prayers like the other one, but this one is SAFE.

Go to your public library - they have printers available.
Yep.

Find nice images that you like and head to the local library, print shop, or even some convenience stores have printers. You can then size them to fit whatever candle jar you want.

I would stick to store bought quality camdles that has glass that is specifically for candles…although even Yankee candles can’t be left burning for long periods.
None of the church candles have pictures. Father has banned people from bringing those grocery store ones…insurance issues.🤷

Not sure but the folks at The Bright Glow Candle Company might be able to help you.

Nearly every grocery, discount, even drug store in Southern California sells them…even most dollar stores.

Sometimes it’s possible to find the “window cling” type of thing in religious designs, such as these on pages 5-6 catholictothemax.com/categories/catholic-gifts/catholic-decals.html?sort=newest&page=6

If the candle heat doesn’t overheat them, they might work. Maybe put them on a wider container and then your candle inside that, leaving a bit of air space to insulate. 🙂
Oh, those decals are beautiful! My wheels are turning with possibilities now, lol! Thanks for the link!
