Is it against the Quran to help non-Muslims? For some reason I think it might be, but if not I think the only Muslim country that would have finances to help would be Saudi Arabia.

I’ve always heard, by friends who moved here from Haiti, that the majority of the Haitians practice Voodoo, a mix of the Catholic religion with African religions. It is a rare thing to see a Haitian that is a practicing Catholic that doesn’t also practice Voodoo.

Not true. Most Haitians are loyal to the Magistrate, very, very Holy Catholic people. They pray to Jesus all the time without any voodooism. This coming straight from a Haitian Community with whom I asked this very question.

Ricko, you DID bash Islam even if it wasn’t your intention. This whole thread is based on a hostile assumption - that Muslims are not doing anything for Haiti. Whether this was my first or my fifteenth or my fiftieth post, is irrelevant (and the fact that you are trying to making an issue out of it would suggest something lacking in your own “argument”).

In addition, you equated the actions of the Dubai government with the entire Muslim world and used it to support your claim that Muslim countries have done nothing - a notion refuted by subsequent posters. Are you telling me this:

It’s not that hard to read between the lines about what the intentions of this thread were - so your supposed surprise at the hostility of other posters is disingenuous and naive.

I agree with whoever said this was a silly thread. Instead of helping people the one thing on Ricko’s mind is measuring what respective governments of Muslim countries have or haven’t done. Really, why start a thread like this if not to bash Islam or Muslims?

I agree with Ricko. They are the wealthiest countries on earth, yet Muslim countries will not shell out a single cent to help anyone in need. This is not bashing Islam…it is simply saying they do not send any help for the poorest of the poor. Nothing wrong with truth.

Because the Israeli strategic situation requires a ready military and their experience of dealing with the fall out from missiles and terrorist bombs the IDF stands as one of the most capable forces worldwide for dealing with this kind of disaster. Only because they are Jews many nations will not allow Israel to send assistance and aid.

Please see the link above. Can’t speak for any countries…but there are organizations that are trying to help in whatever way possible. The Qur’an in no way prohibits us from helping Non-Muslims…and we are obligated as Muslims to help out.

I’m surprised you are surprised. Someone who obviously spends so much time keeping tabs on Israel as you do, should know that Israel is always willing to provide what aid it can when disasters like this happen. I’m not really surprised that there are people who will take the fact that Israel did something good, and use it as a springboard to criticize the country.

Indonesia have 90% of Muslim Population. And the region that hit by Tsunami is one of the largest Muslim region. Aceh, or they call it Aceh Darussalam are one of the major muslim region in Indonesia.

I never heard those moslem countries give something to aid the victims, but when the “Christian” Countries give some helps, the Muslim in indonesia claim that these acts of charity are the part of Christianisation.

No, you named several countries saying that Muslim aid was coming from them when in fact most of the countries you named are NOT Muslim…furthermore, I went on to say that no one not any other organizations have even come close to Catholic charities and Catholic missionaries who are helping out more than anyone else.
