I’m going to graduate soon and I’m going to be looking for a job and a new place to live. Where’s the best place for a 27 year old catholic man to move to?

+1 for the Northern Ohio area. I am in the way north portion of the Archdiocese of Detroit, which is very rural compared with other parts, but we’ve got a lot going on and there are plenty of jobs within the area the dioceses covers. Of course you’ll be paying for housing and such living so close to the city but if you’re a remote worker or willing to commute a bit it’s not so bad.

Luckily I don’t need to worry about money. Graduated with scholarships and no debt and money in the bank. I’m going to check into Ohio.

Well done! I’ve always liked the Northern Ohio area. I know a lot of people who commute from OH to say Ann Arbor or Detroit for work, or from those areas to Toledo or other cities. Also Ohio in general seems to be a good state to live in by all accounts. Were I to move I’d be looking at Ohio.

Cbus isn’t exactly northern, but AD of Detroit, the D of Columbus, and the D of steubenville are all in great shape.

Ohio has a good Catholic “scene” but it’s not doing well overall economically. DC suburbs are doing well but can be pricey. AZ (Mesa/Tempe) seems to have it all–climate, employment and great Catholic fervor.

I don’t live in any of those areas. If I could move anywhere it would be AZ. Unfortunately, I’m stuck in the dredges of the upper North East. It’s awful.

Move to the state of Washington. We need you here. Bring Catholic friends. The State of Grace is the best place wherever you go.

Oklahoma is doing a capital campaign to raise funds for things the diocese of OKC needs. And there’s lots of parishes in northern and central Oklahoma. Overall I love living here. Considering moving after I graduate from college though

Arizona seems nice too. I do better in the heat than I do in the cold. Decisions, decisions.

PLEASE move to New England…we really need Catholic Men and Women to help grow our faith once again. Be brave and go where you are needed, not just where it is easiest to go! New England is prime mission territory!

Ohio is great too, if you want it easy:grin: ( I am an Ohioan by birth) and Dynamic Catholic is looking for people. They are based in Cincy.

Ohio’s big 3 cities (Columbus, cincy, cleveland) are doing great.
Rust belt… not so much. But there are plenty of jobs/growth in the “big 3” so to speak

I can stay where I’m at if I’m seeking to grow the faith among people my age. There are only a few people my age at church.

Maybe not the answer you were looking for!

But Mpumalanga, South Africa is not that bad. You will have the Catholic parish and absolutely no even remotely "Anti-Catholic " part

They are doing ok, not great. But they are burdened by being in a large state that isn’t doing well. The issue with that is the policies and taxes in place make even the “good” places to live less desirable. You also should know that there is a lot of ire towards Steubenville in the greater community.

In general Ohiois taxing itself into oblivian. It has the 13th highest tax burden but an income 5k less than the national average putting them at #34 as far as income.

I gotta know…what is the deal with Steubenville? PM if you have to…but inquiring minds want to know…
