They’re not really comparable. Obama’s birth says nothing good or bad about him personally. However some of the comments about Bristol have been less than pleasant and seemed designed to imply some very scurillous things about her family and to try and use those to discredit her.

Yet, I think there is no reason TODAY to believe he is secretly Muslim. He thinks he’s a Christian. The UCC thinks it is Christian.
 
You are apparently unaware that in US politics all non-laudatory comments are considered to be grave insults. There are no neutral statements over here - only praise and slander.

I believe Obama is a Christian although his faith is far from the center of his life.

I beleive the whole debate over Obama’s religion is just smoke once again confusing actual important questions. The question is not what Obama’s religion is, but whether his family and political background has made him ideologically sympathetic to radical politics and religion.

Also note that it is uncharitable to say that anyone who calls themselves a Christian is a Muslim, please don’t question Obama’s self proclaimed religion.

I’m disappointed in the president. No other president has had to do this as far as I know and it detracts from the stature of his office to stoop to satisfy the gullible and the unscrupulous. What a demoralizing example to those of us still trying to be accepted as belonging at the lunch counter! He has nothing to prove and neither do the rest of us who supposedly don’t belong!

5…4…3…2…1: Now Trump is raising subtle questions about the genuineness of the document. That’s what you get for trying to appease people who should simply be ignored. I just switched off the TV because he is making a fool of himself, the commander in chief and the country with this nonsense - and all of it before the world in which he claims the image of the country is slipping!
