That is true. The latter, that is…I’ve never been a fan of his either, but he did have an exceptionally good sense of rhythm.
I bet he could have actually carried a tune without even having a band behind him!

THAT’S THE ONE!!! I think it was Mr Franchise I saw!!! I think! Yup, pretty sure!! Looong time ago.Sergio Franchi was often on The Mike Douglas Show!I loved his italian accent when he spoke.
The comedian, Norm Crosby, used to call him Surgical Franchise. In fact, as I was typing Franchi, spellcheck changed it to franchise.

For her crystalline voice, Joan Baez is unbeatable. She is still singing but nothing like she had in the past. Judy Collins is also a songbird par excellence…still. I remember Phil Ochs, a troubled soul, but a great songwriter and performer. Of course, Mary Travers has died, but in their heyday, who can forget Peter, Paul, and Mary, the social conscience of the country? And Joni Mitchell, the remarkable songstress of yesteryear and also a wonderful songwriter. So many other inspirational folk singers, including Pete Seeger, Tom Paxton, Odetta, and so on. Not everyone agrees with their liberal politics, but their artistry is undeniable.

I liked James Darren too. I am surprised he was not more popular. I loved his voice in the Gidget movies when he had his featured solos.

Slim Whitman had not only a wonderful voice but he could also yodel in a beautiful way. Chime Bells and Mockingbird Hill for example. The worlds best!! I love “More Than Yesterday, Less Than Tomorrow,” and “Rosemarie” Irreplaceable. Although his son, Byron, could sing a lot like his dad but guess he didn’t go into it. I often wondered why?? You may not like the style of music but Sinatra had the smoothness of voice, phrasing & cool swinging performance that no other singer could duplicate. I have 60 albums & many tapes of Frank…but I’m a musician who also sings & can appreciate the skill & quality that made Sinatra, #1 !
