Just for fun:

Which Bible(s) do you use at home for devotion and/or study?

The Holy one…:rotfl:

I actually have two that I love.

King James Version 1611 edition

and

St, Ignatius Study Bible…Revised Standard Version, Second Catholic Edition

🙂

RSV Large Letter Edition. I have a few other’s but I just can’t see like I use to. 🙂

KJV, New KJV, New American Bible (a Catholic translation) and NIV.

Ah, nice to see a selection here. I just stick to the Authorized Version with the Apocrypha.

Douay Rheims (my favorite) and RSV-CE and RSV-CE 2nd edition.

I have the KJV and the NAB Answer Bible, which my first Catholic Bible.

Usually the Jerusalem, Revised Standard (2nd Catholic Edition) or the Knox.

I also have the New American Bible, though I use it more for the notes and commentary.

NABRE, RSVCE, RSV2CE, Confraternity, Jerusalem Bible (1966), ESV, NKJV, HCSB. Not a fan of old English :o

And La Biblia de Jerusalen in Spanish.

i have my old bible :D.

And you know i love reading all Advice from GoD. He really really really Love us.

GoD is worthy to give him praise and glory. Hossana! Hosanna!

Douay-Rheims and Jerusalem-for English

and

Nacar-Colunga and Jerusalem-for Spanish

My First bibles were a paperback Good News Bible which was a school book. That fell apart from ill-use. That got replaced with a Jerusalem Bible which fell apart some time later and was replaced with my CCB which I still have today and is my first choice for devotional reading.

My first bible to pick up for devotional reading is the:
Christian Community Bible (A catholic Translation with “Pastoral Commentary”
(I have 2 copies an 18th edition in Vinyl cover that I just re-affixed. That’s 18 years old and has been my companion since then. I’ve added lots of ribbons at the same time as reattaching the cover. I also have a 4-year old (35th edition?) Large Print Hardcopy edition. That’s lovely to read… but the standard version lives in my car, in a Leather zip-up case bought the same day as the bible in 1995.)

2nd Choice, and for study:
Ignatius Catholic Study Bible (RSV-2CE) New Testament… eagerly awaiting the publication of the Old Testament. This bible will be my devotional Reading bible Next Year (Or whenever I manage to complete My current read-through of the CCB). I absolutely LOVE the commentary in this bible.

I also have:

NRSV With Apocrypha (It was cheaper than the 2CE version by a long way)

ESV With Apocrypha (Is being used as the basis for a new Lectionary expected here Next Year…) I’ve not yet read a page of it… only put in my Index Tabs.

New Testaments in Knox and DRC translations (and one in Tagalog inherited from my mother-in-law.

Our local evangelical bible shop has a facsimile version of the 1611 KJV which I would love to have as a reference when discussing apologetics and Sola KJV with some of the non catholics I frequently encounter. it really irritates me when someone comes onto my house and complain “That’s not the KJV” if I reas or quote from the bible… having a Facsimile of the 1611 version to compare with their copy would really help to point out that neither is what they are reading!!! (lol). Unfortunately that Facsimile edition is expensive and not in todays budget… I also don’t expect to use it for devotional l reading… I strongly dislike archaic language and don’t find it respectful or pious… to me it smacks of a false piety and outward showy-ness… I know that others have strongly differing opinions on this… ones tastes in this area will be strongly affected by early spiritual formation.

I would love to have the money to buy a full set of the Navarree Bible and or other good catholic commentary versions… i.e. I await the CCSS which is also in current production.

New Jerusalem Bible, Douay Rheims, CTS travel edition, Gideons, King James.:highprayer:

I mostly use the New American Bible (yes, I know the criticisms and often agree with them, but it has many good qualities too) and the RSV-2CE. I also own and use the original RSV-CE and the excellent Ignatius Catholic Study Bible New Testament (which uses the RSV-2CE for its Biblical text). I sometimes use the internet to find passages in various translations.

Finally, I have a King James Bible which I occasionally use for comparison, and have long been wanting to get a D-R and a Jerusalem Bible.

Also want D-R, Jerusalem, NABRE, RSV2CE , ESV…

Have the NCV, KJ, NKJ…
