Besides the Bible, which book/s, that you have read have really made an impact on you and your faith?

For me its St Faustina Diary and books on St Padre Pio.

Rome Sweet Home. I know this one will be said many times; but I’m the first!!! 😛

If Protestantism is True: The Reformation Meets Rome by Devin Rose

At God’s Pace: Josemaria Escriva Founder of Opus Dei by Francois Gondrand

The Price to Pay: A Muslim Risks All to Follow Christ by Joseph Fadelle

I am currently reading The Lambs Supper by Scott Hahn

For me it was “The Boy who came back from heaven.” Really awesome story, and it definitely spurred me towards a more religious taking on life. Can’t wait for heaven! 😉

The Diary of St. Faustina

The World’s First Love: Mary, Mother of God by Archbishop Fulton Sheen

Oh good thread!

Father Sebastian’s books about Mother Teresa are really good, I even prefer them to “Come be my light”.

Father Jacques Philippe’s book “Searching for and Maintaining Peace” was also important to me. It is very deep in all its simplicity and it opened my eyes to some other saints, especially Frans de Sales whom I hold close to my heart. “Philothea” by St. Sales is a very good read for everyone…

I would also like to recommend “In the name of Jesus” by Henri Nouwen, especially if you are involved in some sort of ministry. I have also got some other stuff by him but it was not as interesting…

When it comes to novels, I would have to say Dostoyevsky, especially “Crime and Punishment”.

I could keep going but I will stop now… 😊

Sorry to OP…can’t name just one…

Ignatius Catholic Study Bible
Online Catholic Bible Study ( agapebiblestudy.com/ )
Jesus Of Nazareth - Pope Benedict XVI
Born Fundamentalist, Born Again Catholic - David Currie
The Lamb’s Supper - Scott Hahn
If Protestantism Is True - Devin Rose
The Fullness Of Truth - Jimmy Seghers

“Falling Upward” by Richard Rohr is probably the best book I’ve read in the past year.

What a wonderful post to read/review…sharing in in the fellowship of love among brothers and sisters in the Lord.

But to the question/point: The first one I fell deeper in love with Christ Jesus.

To Know Christ Jesus **Frank Sheed **(Ignatius Press)
“My concern with the Gospels is to see the Face which through all the centuries has looked out from them upon men. The object is not to prove something but to meet someone–that we should know Christ Jesus, know him as one person may know another. As Christians we love him, try to live by his law, would think it a glory to die for him. But how well do we know him?”
-** Frank Sheed, from the Foreword**
The second one…is one of the scariest books I have read (I read it every year during Lent)…like Dante’s Divine comedy…but sobering in a good way about the stakes and consequences of all of my decisions/choices… especially my accepted/rationalized venial sins. Also sobering was to realize…even if make it to Purgatory…If I die in a state of grace but my personality/traits are those of a “horse’s fanny”…when I wake up on the other side of eternity…I am still going to be a “horse’s fanny”…I won’t wake up a holy man …I will be facing a lot of painful purification…with Saint Peter telling me that when I get out of purgatory…don’t forget to turn the lights out…and lock the door!

The Great Divorce C. S. Lewis (Harper- Collins)
…a work of theological fantasy by C. S. Lewis, in which he reflects on the Christian conception of Heaven and Hell…takes us on a profound journey through both heaven and hell in this engaging allegorical tale. Using his extraordinary descriptive powers, Lewis introduces us to supernatural beings who will change the way we think about good and evil.

This is hard to answer as so many different books have helped at different stages of my life.

Mere Christianity (give it to an atheist), The Abolition of Man (give it to a philosopher) The Great Divorce, The Weight of Glory, and The Four Loves. All by C.S. Lewis.

2 books…“Catholicism” and also “Word On Fire” both by Fr. Robert Barron. And yes, Fr. Barron also has a website and a TV series and DVDs and study materials with these same titles…all of it is good stuff!!!
