What??? Where on earth do you get your information? I have yet to hear about an Anglican or a Methodist or an Orthodox sex scandal my friend. I’m pretty certain its because there hasn’t been one. You can’t even come close to bending this issue enough to white-wash yourselves here so just admit it. 😊
I don’t want to overwhelm you, so here’s one each:
Anglican
Methodist

The schism that led to the “Eastern Orthodox” did not occur for more than 650 years after the Catholic Church infallibly established the Canon of Scripture.
The Catholic church did not have the doctrine of infallibility until centuries later.🙂

That’s funny, I didn’t hear any of that in the news. You just couldn’t blow it up to the perspective of the sex scandal of the Roman Catholic church no matter which way you tried to. By the beginning of 2008, there were 107 Roman Catholic clergy members that were CONVICTED of sex abuse against children. I’m sure that the number has grown in the last year and a half. Was there 107+ members of the Anglican clergy or any other denomination for that matter convicted of such atrocities against children in any other sex scandal at any time?? I don’t think so.

Sex abuse spans spectrum of churches

As a protestant, you are operating under the handicap of personal biblical interpretation. You do not have the benefit of the infallibility of the Magesterium of the Catholic Church ie: the Pope and bishops of the Church in union, speaking with authority on matters of faith and morality. protestants lack this charism and are forced to rely on their own opinions.
And all we have to support what you’re saying here is…the say-so of the RC Church - a nice little example of circular reasoning.

Disclaimer: I do not want to be associated with the poster to whom you responded.

Like I said on another thread, it’s all about exclusive authority with these folks.

Christ established one and only one Church, *the Catholic Church, *why do you have a problem with what Christ did?

I won’t entertain your little game. Christ established a Church, not an exclusive institution. Show me otherwise in Scripture and I will submit to it.

Where is it knowledge that the Early Church fathers were Roman Catholic? I guess I and most of the rest of the Christian world missed that one.
The Early Church Fathers were Catholic. “Roman Catholic” was a pejorative term coined by protestants, certainly you can find a thread or fifty on this forum with a quick search.

The Catholic church is centered in Rome is it not? The Vatican is in Rome is it not? You can do better than that I would hope.

Christ established an authoritative infallible Church. The Bible proceeds from the Church. Each time you refer to the Bible you honor the authority and infallibility of the Catholic Church.

Feelings are not wrong, and I feel pity for those who struggle with homosexual tendencies.
However acting on those feelings would be wrong. I cannot stand in the place of God, I can only go by what I know to be true morally.
Also, Religious marriage rites fall under the protection of the First Amendment here in the US. Therefore the government cannot force Religious institutions to preside over, or recognize, homosexual ‘marriages’ or any other type, aside from those between 2 consenting adult individuals of opposite genders from each other, and not blood related.

Oh really? So then when Jesus proclaimed (as he did many times), “It is Written”, he was actually paying homage to the Catholic church? If this wasn’t so deplorable it would be hillarious.😊

You do know that Catholic means universal. Right? “Roman Catholic” is an oxymoron. It was coined by those who wanted to marginalize the Catholic Church. It gained most of its popularity in post-reformation England, along with terms like “papist” “popery” and “Romanism.” Over the centuries that followed the reformation, the term “Roman Catholic” lost much of its original pejorative meaning and many Catholics now refer to themselves as Roman Catholic because of the splintered nature of the post reformation Church. To clarify - we believe that the highest earthly authority for the Catholic Church is the successor to Peter - the bishop of Rome (who resides just outside of the city limits in Vatican City). But we believe the Church is universal in nature, with Christ as its head.

We also believe that what Christ founded on Peter was a Church that was visible in its structure and authority. It is only exclusive in the sense that it defines doctrines and morals based upon the truths taught by Christ and His apostles. I know this is off-topic, but you seemed to want some additional clarification from the Catholic perspective, so I thought I would offer some.

Peace,
Robert

P.S. - I support the original definition of marriage as the union of one man and one woman, and I do so out of love for any who may fall into sexual sin outside of that union. I do not hate gay people. I recognize all of the rights accorded to gay people and gay couples by our civil society and do not seek to remove those protections. However, I think that redefining marriage in a way that appears to give christian sanction to homosexuality does a grave dis-service to gay people because it masks the sinful nature of their sexual conduct. (Note - I am not condemning anyone, but speaking of the act of homosexual sex as objectively wrong.) I believe that the best action a person with same-sex attraction can take is a commitment to chastity.
