There are some classic movies which should not be tampered with.
For example: “Casablanca.”

There’s a difference between old movies and CLASSIC movies.
If thy are considered CLASSIC, then they are acknowledged to be near perfect as is, and therefore should not be re-done.

Imagine if my hubs wanted to “remake” his classic wife.
There’d be war. 😃

THAT would be a good movie, I’d buy tickets! 😃

To Kill a Mockingbird

Meet Me in St. Louis

White Christmas
Agree and I will add to your list:
The Wizard ofvOz( I don’t count the remake with michaelcJackson as a true remake)
Christmas in Conneticut
Gone With the Wind
I am sure more will come to mind…😉

Star Wars. OK, there are obviously no plans to remake the original, since they’re still churning out sequels and spin-offs 40 years later (!) But even if they weren’t, I don’t think a remake would be accepted.

Rebecca! Although Glenn Close would make a good Miss Danvers!
Rebecca is one of my all.time.favorites. For obvious reasons, but I find especially funny that part where Mrs. Danvers says that Rebecca’s undergarments were hand sewn by nuns in a convent in France. Cracks me up every single time. 😃

I think Glenn is too vain to ever play a servant.

That is one of my favorite movies too! That line is pretty funny.

I must have missed that! How funny! How about when new wife answers the phone when she sits behind Rebecca’s desk and says, “I’m sorry, you’ve made a terrible mistake. Mrs. DeWinter is dead.”

At the cost of making a movie these days, trying to remake a classic like Casablanca would be a box office bomb and a financial disaster because the original was so damn good, word of mouth would condemn it as a second rate rip off of the original.

My vote: “Animal House”

Another good one!
