again an opinion presented as fact. the NABRE is approved but you claim it is unacceptable.No it’s not an opinion. We are to study only from Church approved translations. We are to be obedient to our bishops. It doesn’t matter if I travelled back in time and took the original manuscripts and made perfect translations of them. If the Church hasn’t approved it, we have no business studying it.

So, the official approved Bible translation of the Catholic Church is wrong, and you are right?The Nova Vulgata is filled with the same errors as other modern translations.
Regardless, it is not that important. New Bible translations in the vernacular are not to be done directly from the Latin text. Per the direction given by the Church, they are to look to the primary sources and only consult the Latin text when there are specific questions which cannot be resolved otherwise.
Its not like the D-R is the perfect translation and contains no issues or error.

I never said it was unacceptable. I simply said it was not a very good translation. It may have no errors in terms of faith and morality, as the imprimatur insures, but it is still not a good translation. The errors of Bible translations like the NRSV-CE, NABRE, and GNT mostly outweigh those of more accurate translations such as th D-R or RSV-CE. I wouldn’t recommend them, but if a Catholic uses them then so be it, at least they won’t be reading into the glaring errors of Prot. Bibles such as translations like Luther’s German Bible that says “by faith ALONE” instead of just “by faith”.again an opinion presented as fact. the NABRE is approved but you claim it is unacceptable.

It’s not wrong in terms of serious doctrinal errors but it’s still not as good a translation. I showed clear examples. Besides, the Vulgate will always be more trustworthy than even the manuscripts we have now that are just copies of copies of copies of copies dating back to the 12th century, as opposed to the 2nd and 3rd century ones used by Jerome. The translators of the Douay-Rheims knew this and so this is why they chose to use the Vulgate as the basis of their translation instead of what the KJV translators used.So, the official approved Bible translation of the Catholic Church is wrong, and you are right?

And Divino Afflante Spiritu isn’t prohibiting anyone from reading Vulgate based translations. It never said that Bibles now based on the Hebrew/Greek would now be more accurate.
The D-R isn’t perfect, but it’s the most trusted and accurate translation.
