Which is the Saint that inspires you the most? Continued

:yup: I love St Joseph for these reasons and so many more. He was really the quiet but rock-solid work-behind-the-scenes type. I wear a medal of him and have two pictures of him in my home 👍
 
I love St. Augustine because I can relate to so much of his life that I just automaticly feel close to him. Plus, reading some of St. Augustine’s writings is just greatness. I also love St. Jude because I pray to him frequently, and his intercession has done so much to help me. So I would have to say that St. Augustine and St. Jude are the two that inspire me most. Glory to God who shows us humans like ourselves who have gone to heaven and who can intercede for us.

That is awesome… St Joseph is the Patron Saint of soooooooo many important things!!! (“things” is a bit lacking in meaning… sorry… I can give you more info if you do not already know)

One day, if you get the opportunity, go to St Joseph’s Oratoire in Montreal, Canada… amazing experience!!! :love:
 
Reading about the life of Pope John Paul II (who I am certain is a Saint in heaven!) has been most inspiring to me. St. Joseph is special to me, but I really feel JP interceding for me on a daily basis.

Even though our Lady is so important, I don’t think that she is necessarily the most inspiring Saint to all of us without exception. I love Mary, but for some reason I have been more moved and inspired by other saints.

If you haven’t found it already, this link says Pope John Paul II canonized Padre Pio of Pietrelcina a Saint on June 16, 2002 * and * Padre Pio’s feast day, September 23rd, is an “obligatory memorial” in the church’s general liturgical calendar.

I’m so glad to see that you included St. Francis de Sales! He has some of the most practical – and gentle – advice for advancing in holiness (for example, his famous An Introduction to the Devout Life). I think that it would be great if our priests promoted devotion to him and quoted him regularly in their homilies. (Ditto, by the way, for St. Josemaria Escriva, who wrote tons of books and gave tons of speeches!)

As an aside, I worked for a while in Catholic journalism, and “St. Frannie,” as some affectionately called him, is the patron saint of Catholic journalists, so that’s how I got to know him. My boss had won the Catholic Press Association’s “St. Francis de Sales Award,” and thus had a little statue of the venerable saint on his desk. Just like the busts of Abraham Lincoln, this poor Frannie had his nose practically rubbed raw! But, I digress only to add that perhaps a prayer to St. Francis de Sales for Catholic journalists may be in order, too.
