Hello everyone,

This is just a fun thread. Which Jewish or Christian person from another denomination (non-Catholic) do you think would have made Blessed or Sainthood and why?

I think Martin Luthur King may have been a candidate. He was faithful, selfless and gave his life for a just cause.

Surely, the purpose of possessing an open mind is to shut it on something solid - GK Chesterton

Would have been beatified or canonized if what? If they had been Catholic, do you mean?

Let’s start with Beatified as that is our official process. They don’t have a process like we do, or if they do I’m ignorant of it.

Yes, if they had been Catholic, would you have supported beatification?

Well much of what C.S. Lewis wrote was so /Catholic/ anyway. I was watching the Chronicles of Narnia movies the other day and realized that the frozen statue people correlated to the part of the Apostles Creed that says “He descended to the dead…” MIND BLOWN!:whackadoo:

As for Billy Graham, he, while not pseudo-Catholic like Lewis, was not itinerant in his beliefs. His faith seemed sincere and powerful. I think he’s the closest thing Evangelicals have to a mystic.

Menachem Begin, Jew and Anwar Sadat, Muslim: peacemakers.

As far as Jewish people go, I’d say Moses Maimonedies who could have been a doctor of the church. As for protestants go I’d say C.S. Lewis and John Wesley.

He was also a confirmed adulterer:eek: :sadyes: FBI wiretaps…

I could think of a few(Rabbi Gamaliel?), but they’d be tainted by popular acclamation and judgement. We just don’t know.

Dietrich Bonhoeffer, possibly. He stood up to the Nazis and became a martyr.

I agree on Dietrich. Even Catholic theologians admire him and quote him from his books or teachings. I would also think the Danish guy who rescued so many Jews–I don’t know his name but I do think he dies in a Soviet gulag. And maybe Alexander Solzetsin) not sure how you spell his last name).

Peter denied knowing Jesus three times. He is a Saint. We were not privy to MLK private confessions. Let he who is without sin cast the first stone.**

You mean Raoul Wallenberg? IMS, he was a Swede, not a Dane. He disappeared in the Soviet zone of Germany in 1945.

The spelling of the other name is commonly Solzshenitsyn. Although, as this is a transliteration from Russian, there are alternate spellings.

ICXC NIKA

Do Buddhists count? If so, Manas Siensingh.
No, I was just wanting suggestions for Jewish people as our faith stems from them and other Christians as they are our brethren.

Not that I have anything against Buddhists, Muslims or any other faith.😃

Speaking of the Danes, Soren Kierkegaard should be added to this list.

Gandhi anyone?

what about Abraham Isaac Kook and Ellen White and Patriach Kyrillos VI.
