Yep, no more premium cable for years and slapped an Internet filter on all computers I use.

Fortunately, I managed to get over my lust problems ( knock on wood -time to break out the Viagra) before cable -we only have basic cable (too cheap) and internet porn came of age … part of becoming an old geeezer, or a young geezer if there is such a thing 😛

BUT I watch way tooooo much tv and spend too much time on the net. I love old/new movies, game shows, dramas, comedies, etc…etc… I’m beginning to think tv and the net is the devil’s way of distracting us from reality and God.
 
Lust seems to be my biggest downfall. I sometimes dont know how to control it and I feel so guilty about it.
 
LUST, LUST, LUST all the way for me. If you give me your birth day date, I could give youu an answer. 'Cos my elemantal is water, my downfall has always been lust.

Ok, I know this thread is older than the hills, but can someone tell me if these are mortal or veniel sins? I was under the impression that they are veniel, and I haven’t been confessing them as often as I probably should. Can someone help?
 
Lust first with Gluttony in a close second. Maybe I should try more fasting, eh? That would tackle both.

They’re what is called ‘capital’ or ‘deadly’ sins - not mortal in every case, but they can open the way for worse.

For example ‘lust’ can cover everything from one slightly overlong peek at a particularly good-looking specimen of humanity (venial) to multiple adulteries or rampant homosexuality (well and truly mortal).

This exam of conscience is very helpfully divided into mortal and venial sins. It is good as a general guideline as to what sort of things are mortal and which are venial.
 
Thank you, LillyM. After I found this post, my conscience was really bothering me because although I have known that these feelings were sinful, I did not realize that they were mortally sinful, and I haven’t been confessing them. I understand how lust can turn into a mortal sin, but just thinking another man is good looking is not necessarily a mortal sin, or even veniel.

I think gluttony and sloth are two of my biggest downfalls. Lust was probably a bigger issue in my youth, but my middle-aged hormones have calmed down a bit. Besides, I’m probably too busy thinking about food, eating too much, and too lazy to feel very lustful!😃
 
I voted on envy, but now that I think of it, wouldn’t pride give rise to all of the other cardinal sins?
 
Anger. I’m very quick to anger. I’ve gotten much, much better as I’ve gotten older, but I’m still much more quick to anger than I want to be.
 
I voted anger! It’s really a big problem for me. I boil over very quickly and scream very much. I also have problems with pride (I hate to ask for help) and laziness (a.k.a. sloth).
